Anyone know what's up with the Arrow reprints of Heyer books? Is Arrow a British publisher? Is there some reason why a mass market paperback is 14 and change?
Yes, Arrow is British. If they're that price, I would guess it's exchange rates speaking. What are they reprinting right now? I've been terribly frustrated at no recent Heyer reprints around here.
Here's what I found at Amazon. I have a chance this weekend to visit another UBS, so will wait to order anything just yet.
Sprig Muslin (which Harlequin already redid) Lady of Quality Spanish Bride April Lady (again, Harlequin beat them) The Unknown Ajax (see above) False Colors A Civil Contract (see above)
All due to be published July 26.
There was also this (but no description) : http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0434013293/qid=1121224445/sr=1-62/ref=sr_1_62/002-3755524-7857604?v=glance&s=books
entitled Georgette Heyer's Regency World. Might be good.
I would like to read Lady of Quality and False Colors. I'd also like to get Friday's Child.
Right. I have many of those. I've read Lady of Quality a couple of times from libraries back in California and in Zachary (my parents'). Spanish Bride is the one I had from the library but didn't finish, it got too military for me.
> False Colors
I really enjoyed that one from the library, and WANT a copy! Harlequin, get ON it!
> A Civil Contract (see above)
Hah, that one I had two copies of before Harlequin - one battered paperback the kids have managed to rip the cover off, then at ConDFW's book table in 2004 they had a hardback large print copy I snagged. That one I actually ended up reading to Karl over a period of time. Good book.

"A unique behind-the-scenes look at the history, culture, society and politics of Georgette Heyer's regency world." - info here: http://www.georgette-heyer.com/jen.html I'd certainly like to read it.
So is it going to have stuff on her characters as well as the Real Regency World? Sounds like it. hmmm, maybe I should add that to my Christmas list. :)
I had a battered paperback that I replaced with the Harlequin edition, and gifted a UBS with ACC so someone else can get introduced to the world of Georgette Heyer.
Truthfully, I'm pretty omnivorous. I like romances (especially Regencies) as long as the heroines aren't braindead - sci-fi that's not too technical - fantasy in some cases - alternate history - mysteries as long as I like the characters - Nancy Drew books - history.
The book collection is up over 1000. I'll have a count again as soon as I get a working copy of MS Office. This week, hopefully.
That's very exciting. I like books. Nancy Drew isn't exactly my thing but to each his(her) own. Actually most of the genres you listed are what I enjoy reading. I like to dig through antique stores and estate sales and such looking for old books. Books before political correctness, books before modern scientific knowledge.
