 Dear Writer,

So I really enjoyed this challenge last year.  It gave me a chance to stretch and I loved my story.  And I know I'll love what you write for me!

General: Try not to make everything too dark - some darkness in the progress of the story is fine, but don't end it that way.  If you want more about my writing likes/dislikes, check out the "dear Yuletide writer" tag.  I'm good with sexual activity that's not too explicit, as long as it fits with the characters and situation.

 1. The Lady Lovibond

So, I love this story.  I first found it in a Regency (The Haunting of Henrietta by Sandra Heath, if you're interested) and was stoked to find there was a "real" story as well.  ("Real" because the source indicates that it may be a made-up story.  I dont care, still love it.)  It's a pretty open field, but I like:

 * ghosts trying to affect their fate/prevent others from wrecking
 * introspection from the ghosts (particularly the bride) - either after they become ghosts or the events of the night itself
 * a modern day ship meeting up with them - bonus points for descendants/family members being on board OR having skeptics of the ghost ship on board

 2. Theseus and the Minotaur - Plutarch

Last year, I included Theseus in the lineup, but I decided to leave him off this year.  Theseus may be the Hot Young Hero, but he's also kind of stupid and malicious (witness forgetting the black sails are up, and Medea).  I'd love to see Ariadne help out the seven maidens rather than the handsome (kind of stupid) prince?  Feel free to make the maidens somehow tied to the seven young men - friends/siblings/etc - but interested here in Ariadne helping the maidens out.  Maybe she knows one of them.  If you include the Minotaur (I have him on there, but he's not essential), have them help each other out.  (Also, feel free to go with a Hunger Games theme.)

 3. The Iliad - Homer

Keep Hector alive.  I find it greatly unfair that Paris and Helen live, and he does not (along with what probably happened with his wife and children).  Or maybe something between Andromache and Hector? If you wanted to cross over with The Odyssey GO RIGHT AHEAD - maybe Odysseus takes them with him for some reason.  Maybe he even smuggled Hector out and tells them he's taking Andromache as his prize of war?  Penelope helping them feel at home (and maybe then Odysseus doesn't get stuck away for 10 years).  I had a request last year for a story about the Royal House of Atlantis that might have inspired these ones, feel free to work with that if you like.  Last year's letter is here.  Maybe Demeter gets involved to save Hector and Andromache?

 4. Phantom Passenger That Wants A Ride Home (Urban Legend)

I love this story.  I like either version - the prophetic hitchhiker, or the one who just wants to get home.  Maybe a poor driver encounters both of them?  Maybe interaction between the 2 phantoms?  I'm not interested in the phantom's family.  I didn't request her specifically, but if you want to take a look at the Resurrection Mary story here I'm fond of how she has drivers take her to the cemetery rather than her parents' home.
