Yuletide 2013 Ramblings

Not sure what the final stats on fandoms and characters is, but there is a pretty good mix of stuff. There's also an error with the tag set that has caused some entertaining moments.
BOOKS:
Two of the American Girls are in, Samantha and Molly. Not too interested in either, but there was an error in the nomination for Molly that turned Emily Bennett into Elizabeth Bennett (which could have been interesting).
Anne of Green Gables is in with most of the usual suspects - Marilla Cuthbert, Faith Meredith, and Nan Blythe were apparently not nominated. However, someone did nominate Little Dog Monday, so there could be some really good post-WWI stuff this year.
The Baby-Sitters Club has a pretty good pool of characters, with most of the usual suspects. I think it's going on my offer list. The one BSC story I got was so good I don't know that I'd be happy with another one. If you're interested, that story is here: Elizabeth's Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Dates. I am also trying to pull together a NYR on someone's request for this fandom last year.
Chalion appears, as does the Sharing Knife series.
Heyer has a good representation - several that interested me and some that didn't (Bath Tangle for one). For ones that interested me, Cotillion, The Nonesuch, and These Old Shades are in. I'm requesting fic for one or possibly both of the last two. I had a request for The Nonesuch last year that still interests me, and for some reason I want fic about Fanny Marling.
The Emberverse (Dies the Fire, etc) is in, with an interesting set, although surprisingly Rudi Mackenzie was not nominated. Juniper and Mike are, as well as Astrid and Eric, Mary Havel, Matilda, and Tiphaine. I wait to see what comes out of that. The usual nomination for Nantucket is in, which leads me to believe the person still hasn't gotten the story they really wanted.
Greek Mythology has a good set in. The Odyssey is in separately.
The Hardy Boys are in with the usual suspects (ie, no Laura Hardy).
Honor Harrington is in with a decent assortment of either Graysons or Havenites.
Lord Peter Wimsey and his set are pretty well set-up.
Frances Hodgson Burnett is well-represented with A Little Princess, The Lost Prince, and The Secret Garden.
Mageworlds is in with a small set, all second gen characters.
Mansfield Park made it in.
Miss Marple is in with a character set heavily reliant of A Pocketful of Rye. I had a very clear image of what request I wanted to make, but it's been shifting some since I read through a few of the short stories about the Tuesday Night Club. So, I'll have to think about what I want to ask for. I also helped someone else get characters in that they wanted. Harley Quin and Mr. Sattherwaite were nominated in their category, as well as Tommy and Tuppence. However, Poirot appears to have been left out.
I was the only one to nominate Nancy Drew, likely because I am still hoping for the story I really want. Maybe this year is the year! I nominated Nancy, Carson Drew, Helen Corning, and Don Cameron - I wish I had realized no one else was nominating them because I'd probably have swapped out Don. Also, no one nominated the SuperMysteries (which I'm thinking of adding to the tags on my stories because it fits better).
Nero Wolfe got a nomination with a decent set.
They decided to allow the Rihannsu novels in so THAT could be very worth reading. Some of the Star Wars novels got in as well - Thrawn and the X-Wing crowd, but not enough characters for my taste.
Sweet Valley High is in, but the character set is relatively limited.
The Westing Game has a good character set. There have been some good stories from that one.
CARTOONS
For me, cartoons and Yuletide mean it's time for a trip to the 1980s. Fandoms in this year include Lion Voltron, Thundercats (original and reboot), He-Man and She-Ra, Jem (not a full enough character set for my taste), and Dungeons and Dragons. Jonny Quest is also in (without the main character), and the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc, which I still have not seen.
MOVIES
There is a good assortment of movies, mostly stuff that I think I'll be interested in reading, not so much writing or offering. But when it comes up it will be fun!
Clue has a pretty good character set (everyone except the bodies) and there's a request I'm sort of flirting with making. I don't know if I could write for it, but this might be the year we see. It's one of the movies I brought with me, so I can always reference it.
The Eagle (movie, not book) is in, as well as A League of Their Own, The Cutting Edge, The Mummy, Murder by Death (exciting! not enough characters!), The Thin Man, and Tangled (where, by a rather amusing error, Tiphaine Rutherton from Emberverse shows up...).
TV
There's an interesting assortment of things that I might enjoy reading in here, but not so much with the writing. MASH, Brisco County, 1957 Zorro, Murder She Wrote, a lot of the mystery/detective stuff, including Columbo. Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew TV series was nominated, but apparently by a Hardy Boys fan because Nancy does not appear. Glad I didn't nominate them.
OTHERS
Disney Princesses is a perennial favorite, and Hell's Kitchen RPF might be fun to read. Maybe write depending on the prompt...
I am really looking forward to Yuletide this year!
