I know I said there would be a real post. But my internet connection is being very bitchy.

95% on my test.

Official promotion MAYBE early next week.

Hiss, Hiss.

Reading the first in Laura Joh Rowland's Sano Ichiro series, Shinju after having read six or seven of the others. So far, it's pretty good, but I think I prefer the books with Reiko instead.

Real post tomorrow, bitchy connection or no.

I love the Sano Ichiro books! Love 'em! I never knew that feudal Japan was just so damned kinky. I just recently bought and read the most recent of the series. I like the way she has things change sometimes drastically so, over time. And the way she handles the complexities of life among the damiyo and the balance between honor and duty and doing what's right.

And I agree that I like Reiko in the books. Nice to see a strong female character who isn't out of place in her historical setting.

I also like the way she handles the 'villain' of the books too. Total bastard, but still sympathetic.

Villain = Yanagisawa? Yes, he and Hoshina are a pair. Have you read the newest one, The Perfumed Sleeve ?

Very good. Esp if you like Reiko.

Yup yup got it the other day and tore through it. Was NOT expecting that ending, going to be very interesting to see how Yanagisawa comes back from that one -- if at all.

Was doing some looking around the other day and found out that the Shogun in those books was an actual historical character and that he did actually enact those rulings to protect dogs and such. Kind of figured he was but, still, neat! I think Yanagisawa is a historical figure too but I'm not 100% on that one.

BTW, I was checking out your user info ('cause I'm creepy like that...) and found the womenwarriors community. Neat reading!

Yanagisawa will be back, believe me. He's just that sort of character.

It's entertaining in there sometimes. I think Jenn reads it too.
