One of the benefits of night shift is that I've just spent that last four hours (pretty much) reading the latest Eve Dallas novel.

Verdict: It's good.  I was starting to get worried in the middle of the book, but the climax has power.

They've also redone the cover again, and I wonder if there's some reason for ditching Nora Roberts' picture on the back of the cover.  The title's also a change.

Spoilery verdict:  This is in the form of notes as I read the book, bear with the format please!

11 pages in - Could we stop with the auto-proofread, please?  The mistake they don't catch are getting old.  Zoner should be capitalized.

53 pages in - One of the sentences is either put together weird, or the screwed up the punctuation.

54 pages in - Use of the word "anal" as a abbreviation/shorthand for "analysis".  Really?  Excuse me while I snicker and wonder how they pronounce it on the audiobook version.

115 pages in - Have a bad feeling that the partner of the person Eve is tracking down (one of her first cases, who has escaped from prison and wants to come screw around with her - to be honest, THAT plot is getting a little old) is going to turn out to be her mother, Stella.  One, because she fits the type.  Two, because the whole book is about going back to the beginning.  Three, because it's about the only thing that she hasn't done in 34 books.

213 pages in - I'm proven right and Eve just figured it out.

255 pages in - Stella gets axed by the killer.  Good plot turn, IMO.

312-316 pages in - Galahad fix for those of us who love the fat cat with bi-colored eyes.

391 pages in - Galahad saves her life, for the second time.  (After she scared me that she was going to have the bad guy do something to the cat...)

394 pages in - I can sum up the climax in 2 words.  Full Circle.  In fact, I had to go check Amazon to see if there was another one scheduled.  (There is! and I already pre-ordered it.)  Eve gets in a fight with the bad guy, where he has her pinned down and where she dislocates her shoulder and has a knife in hand... sound familiar to anyone else?  I thought it was good - and the way she ends the scene is perfect.

I still wouldn't say it's the best one ever, but it's pretty well up the list.
