30 Days of Fanfic Writing Meme - Day Nine
Jun. 9th, 2011 08:33 pmToday's question: Pairings – For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favorite pairings to write?
Get your popcorn... although not all fandoms HAVE 3 pairings...
1. Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys (SuperMystery books, 80s and 90s)
Nancy/Frank - This is my main pairing, and pretty much the whole reason I write in the fandom. I think they really work together, and I'm
just not a Ned Nickerson fangirl.
Fenton/Laura - What can I say, I'm a sucker for healthy relationships that last forever.
Joe/Bess - They work for me on both a shallow, friendly level, and possibly a forever level. Either way, they're a lot of fun.
2. Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys (TV)
Nancy/Frank - The dynamic between them is different, more of a "we could be great if we don't strangle each other" vibe. The snap
between them on the screen is pretty good too.
3. Dungeons and Dragons
Eric/Sheila - This is an uncommon pairing in the fandom (I think I might have written the only one, as a Yuletide request) but the more
canon I looked at, the more I saw it.
4. He Man & Masters of the Universe
If I did anything with a pairing in this one, it would have to be Randor/Marlena.
5. Voltron (Lion Voltron)
Keith/Allura - The hero gets the princess is a pretty standard trope, but I've always enjoyed it here.
6. Jem and the Holograms
Jerrica/Rio - Jerrica, not Jem. The serious girl doesn't deserve to lose everything.
7. GI Joe (cartoon)
Duke/Scarlet - Yes, child of the 80s and cartoon fan first, I just prefer this one.
Beach Head/Cover Girl - Not just because a good friend of mine pretty much started it, but because they work. A little bit of opposites
attract never hurts a story.
8. Bujold's Vorkosigan saga
I haven't done anything with a pair, but I'd like to pull off a good Alys/Simon story.
9. Star Trek: New Frontier
Mac/Shelby - Opposites attract again, and I think they're pretty much the hook for the whole series.
McHenry/Soleta - I enjoyed this, another opposites attract/old friends trope.
10. Star Trek: TNG
Picard/Crusher - Like I said, my first real shippy writing experience.
Riker/Troi - I am a huge Peter David fan, what did you expect...
11. Babylon 5
Sheridan/Delenn - I really enjoyed this one.
Ivanova/Franklin - I've played with this some, and I think you could at least argue for a one night stand...
