30 Days of Writing Fanfic Meme - Day Three

Today's question: For each of the fandoms from day two, what were your favorite characters to write?
1. Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys (books) - Not just because she's the main character, but I love writing Nancy Drew. She's a character you can have fun with. Laura Hardy is also fun, but there's a lot more room to make things up since they didn't exactly give us a lot of screen time for the character to work with,
2. Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys (TV) - On the show, I'm sort of tied between Nancy and Joe Hardy - the personalities are fun, as done by the actor.
3. Dungeons and Dragons cartoon - Tie between Eric (the Cavalier) and Sheila (the Thief) - the former because I have a weakness for smartass characters (and people), the latter because I can identify with the character (big sister, responsibility for the group).
4. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe - I have a soft spot for Prince Adam, and there's a lot of places the character can go. He has some unique problems that make him fun. And he likes cats!
5. Voltron (Lion Voltron) - Lance, hands down. Another example of my love for the smartass character, and the one who always humor to defuse the situation.
6. Jem and the Holograms - I get a little serious here, and pick Jerrica Benton (not Jem). Again, the character who has to be responsible for everything and everyone, even at the expense of her own fun.
7. GI Joe (cartoon) - I have been guilty of the sin of going with OCs in this fandom, and I've used the canon characters I use pretty evenly. If pressed, I would have to go with Cover Girl or Deep Six (and yes, I'm aware that's like two different ends of the spectrum).
8. Vorkosigan Saga - Having only done the one, I was pretty comfortable with using Gregor Vorbarra, but it was also the character whose voice fit with the assignment best.
9. Star Trek New Frontier - I'd have to go for a pair here - Elizabeth Shelby and Soleta. They were fun to write for, and again suffer from the curse of being responsible/big sisters with a dose of sarcasm.
10. Star Trek: TNG - Dr. Crusher, hands down. She's always been my favorite.
11. Babylon 5 - There's really only one answer to this question. Susan Ivanova. (She is God, after all, as fans of the series know.)
For the possibilities:
1. Trixie Belden - Honey Wheeler. I think she could be fun, and she's another one of the "voice of reason" crowd.
2. Cherry Ames - I'd go with Cherry herself. It could be a lot of fun. There's also a lot of fun crossover potential within the confines of the series (ie, Cherry Ames, Starfleet Nurse? It wouldn't be any more out-there than the rest of them.)
The rest of the meme is here.

Date: 2011-06-04 09:40 pm (UTC)There used to be a LOT - I think there's still a lot out there, even if people aren't writing actively.
At some point this year, I'd like to do a B5 rewatch because PB didn't watch it...

Date: 2011-06-05 11:38 pm (UTC)S5 does have its moments, but the emotions at the end of S4 are just hard to top. I'd have been okay if S5 had never been aired, since we did get the series finale (Sleeping in Light).
