I scored as a True Fan. Not really shocked.
I wouldn't say my major canon "ran out", and I do like to play the what-if game, but a) if someone's dead, they stay dead (or you just write fic before they died) and b) OOC doesn't entertain me.

OOC is blasphemy, canon is everything.
Once you fall in love with a movie, book or TV series, you are loyal like an old dog. You take fanfiction quite serious and use it as a substitute after the canon ran out.

Date: 2010-01-06 05:37 am (UTC)Sometimes OOC works, if it's a "dark mirror" style AU or deliberately cracked out fic. But in both cases, the OOC has to be a) deliberate, b) consistent and c) well-played. If there's some logical sort of reason for the characters to be OOC, then I can get into it.
I can't stand it though when characters are just OOC because someone didn't do their homework. I'd actually prefer to see a Mary Sue/Gary Stu than a warped canon character.

Everything is possible, nothing is ever really over.
Fanfiction is a creative outlet for you. You don't intentionally write it, it just happens. You find inspiration in several fandoms, but are not obsessed with only one.
You like to explore "what if" situations. What if this character had never made this very choice? What if this event had taken place sooner, never, elsewhere? What if these people had never met?
You are likely to write Alternative Universes, fan seasons or sequels and just follow your (sometimes pretty strange) plot bunnies.

I think this is fair enough assessment. *LOL*
I agree with you about OOCness, but too many times, the ooc is just off the wall excuse to mary sue.

Date: 2010-01-07 07:16 am (UTC)At least with the MS/GS, there's some independent creativity. I mean, do they have violet eyes or sapphire eyes or flashing emerald eyes - and don't forget the hair, do you go with tumbling raven masses, or flowing red tresses?
OOC canon characters just strike me as lazy, unless it's like one of the setups I have above.
