Moving this to the top so people don't have to scroll back for days and days....

[livejournal.com profile] betray802 made me do it.

She also guessed the most songs, but a large portion of the list (and indeed, my iPod) is music that we both like.

 1. You're such a flirt, I know you hurt - "Kiwi", Maroon 5 - I love this song, it's one of their sexier ones.

 2. Ain't no hay left on the ground, I'll join the sun in setting down - "Midnight Sun", Garth Brooks (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] betray802 )

 3. Hey, whatcha drinkin' baby - "Looking for A Good Time", Lady Antebellum (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] mbeancntr ) - pretty good song.

 4. It took me five hours, some thirty license plates - "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend", Miranda Lambert (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] betray802 )

 5. It's been the longest winter without you - "Better in Time", Leona Lewis

 6. I don't wanna be the girl who laughs the loudest - "Sober", Pink (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] norabombay )

 7. Guess I just lost my husband, don't know where he went - "So What", Pink (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] norabombay  and [livejournal.com profile] freespirit127 ) - Yes, I do enjoy the attitude of the song.

 8. People are talking, talking about people - "Something To Talk About", Bonnie Raitt (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] mbeancntr ) - This is one of my favorite writing songs.

 9. There is nothing that is wrong with wanting you to stay here with me - "Lay Down Sally", Eric Clapton

 10. Never really said too much, afraid it wouldn't be enough - "Light On", David Cook (guessed by [profile] meryl_roder )

 11. Far...we've been traveling far - "America", Neil Diamond (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] mbeancntr )

 12. She's her mama's baby, she's her daddy's pride and joy - "Good Little Girls", Blue County (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] mbeancntr )

 13. She can hear his car as it pulls into the drive - "She Can't Save Him", Trisha Yearwood/Reba McEntire (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] betray802 )

 14. All I can ever be to you is the darkness that we know - "Tears Dry On Their Own", Amy Winehouse

 15. We go back so far, swinging in your backyard - "Love Like This", Natasha Bedingfield

 16. My friends all say that I'm losing touch, with reality -"Too Much is Not Enough", Bellamy Brothers "duet" with Forrester Sisters - seriously, what do you call it when a vocal duo does a song together with a vocal trio? - calling them a quintet somehow doesn't seem right

 17. He's been working all week, he's got mental fatigue - "Friday Night Blues", John Conlee (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] betray802 )

 18. I've walked these streets, a virtual scene it seemed to me - "Carnival", Natalie Merchant (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] katyblue )

 19. Incompatible...it don't matter though - "Soulmate", Natasha Bedingfield (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] freespirit127 )

 20. He was a famous trumpet man form old Chicago way - "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy", Andrews Sisters (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] cinchntouch )

 21. You remind me of a man, the man with the power - "Man With The Hex", Atomic Fireballs - it's the vaguely swing-punk song from the Scooby Doo movie

 22. The best things in life are free, but you can give them to the birds and bees - "Money", Barrett Strong (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] stoutfellow )

 23. Them that's got shall have, them that's not shall lose - "God Bless The Child", Billie Holiday (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] stoutfellow )

 24. Where have all the good men gone, and where are all the gods? - "Holding Out For A Hero", Bonnie Tyler (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] mbeancntr ) - I have the original song, but I also like the performance by the Fairy Godmother in Shrek 2, some of the music is really good.

 25. Nickels and dimes, memories and wine - "Fool Hearted Memory", George Strait (guessed by [livejournal.com profile] betray802 ) - one of my very favorite George Strait songs, up there with "Marina Del Rey" and "You Look So Good In Love"

 Have at it !

All four correct (although 25 is actually "Holding Out For A Hero").

#3 and #8 are excellent for getting the creative juices flowing.
#25 - reminds me of a fanvid I watched once. The vidder did an excellent job capturing the atmosphere.

**

ooh, #11 is Neil Diamond - Coming to America - another awesome feel good song.

#3 makes me think of Joe Hardy and Bess Marvin when I'm writing. Lady Antebellum in general makes me pretty happy, although I didn't know the female singer is Linda Davis' daughter. She and the guy sound like they have awesome chemistry.

#8 makes me think Nancy/Frank, and I confess to loving the movie of the same title with Julia Roberts and Dennis Quaid.

#25 always puts me in epic drama mode. I like the Shrek 2 adaptation (the performance in the end where it's punched up and the music matches), but I like the Bonnie Tyler version too. There's several excellent songs from "Footloose".

#11 cheers me up and makes me feel all patriotic.

Is that Boogie Woogie Boy from Company C?

That would be correct.

#22 is "Money", by Barrett Strong.
#23 is "God Bless the Child"; there've been a lot of covers, but I'll guess Blood, Sweat and Tears. (I also have Billie Holiday's version.)

Both are right - only 23 is Billie Holiday herself.

I first heard, and fixated on, BS&T's version, so it still feels like the original to me, but of course Billie's is the real deal.

I got it on a CD called "A Woman's Voice", where it had all kinds of female artists, and got a little hooked.

I heard it on "The Billie Holiday Songbook", which is pretty good. If the only version of "My Man" you've heard is the one in "Funny Girl", Billie's version is an eye-opener (and does not describe Nick Arnstein atall, atall).

#13 sounds like Garth Brooks' Thunder Rolls and #19 could be Natasha Beddingfield's Soulmate, but I'm not sure about that one.

And my iPod just told me that #7 is Pink with So What

#13 is not right (although I hadn't realized how close the beginning of the songs are).

#19 is right.

#7: I'm a rockstar- Pink

Yes. I really like Pink. Some of the more serious stuff is good ("Dear Mr. President" with the Indigo Girls, "Sober") and then you have stuff like "So What" and "Bad Influence".

2 is Midnight Sun by Garth Brooks

4 is Crazy Ex-Girlfriend by Miranda Lambert (which I somehow hear as, "It took me five bars, some thirty license plates.")

13 is She Can't Save Him by Lisa Brokop

17 is Friday Night Blues by John Conlee

25 is Fool Hearted Memory by King George

You're right (and you're also right about it being 'bars', not 'hours'.)

13 is also by Trisha Yearwood and Reba McEntire on the Duets CD.

17 I was pretty sure you would know!

Excuse me, I have to go beat my head against a wall, that I didn't get 16.

I almost thought it was More Than A Memory by Garth, but then I was like, no ...

I think that's one of the things that got 'Vocal Event Of the Year' started.
