Work, continued

After a year and a half of working a schedule of 2 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, 2 on, 2 off, 3 on (basically, working M, T, F, S, Su one week, and only W, TH the next week), this four day in a row thing is hard to get a grip on. Especially since days off "roam", which means figuring out when I can get anything done on my time is an ordeal involving an actual calendar and much brain wracking. :( Today is day 3, which means I get to deal with the untrained person who technically outranks me. Luckily, he's cool about admitting that my technical knowledge is a book, his is a chapter or so.
Plus, there's the discovery that everything the Army wants me to do in on "my" time in the next two months either occurs on my day off, or at an ungodly early hour of the morning. Swing shift is *evil* and we're on it until the end of the year.
Preparing to do a beta on a thirty-one page *chapter* for one of my fellow Joe authors. I need to get it done before this weekend, and maybe even lay down the start of Weekend Leave's conclusion (see, Fearchilde, put that rope *away*...) that I have down in longhand.
And at some point, I need to straighten up my apartment. So I should probably not be planning to spend hours on the computer until I go to work.
Right, that's going to happen.

Date: 2004-10-09 03:08 pm (UTC)It's pretty amazing though that you can have that crappy schedule and still find time to write when I'm just laying around the house all weekend and I haven't done a damn thing yet. I need a week-long writer's retreat to finish off all my open fic. Or just someone with a whip and a cattleprod standing by. Either would work. Probably.

And I'm so avoiding the obvious comment. But I'm sure you see it as well as I do.
