Regards to PPFA and Susan G. Komen Foundation

The following is in a cut for those who are avoiding the political stuff:

The San Antonio Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has received calls and e-mails from anti-choice activists. Our detractors are pressuring Komen to end support for Planned Parenthood’s Habla Con Tu Hermana breast health education programs.

The leadership at Komen has pledged full support of Planned Parenthood despite the angry calls they have received over the last few weeks. Planned Parenthood will have a presence at the race with an information table and a race team. We want to continue to partner with the Komen Foundation to educate women in our community on breast health which in turn saves women’s lives. But we need your help!

You can express your thanks with a letter to Komen for their support of breast health work at Planned Parenthood. Please send your letter before the Komen Race for the Cure on April 2 to the following address:

You can also send your support to the local Komen affiliate via e-mail at info@sakomen.net.

Please avoid direct phone calls which take up Komen volunteers’ time. Personal notes are few and far between so we ask that a heart felt pledge of thanks for Komen support of Planned Parenthood is sent via mail.

I would say something, but I can't come up with something that adequately describes my feeling and does not involve the F word. Instead, I plan to write a letter today.

Good for them! I'm glad they stood up to the anti-lifers. It sickens me that they [the anti-choicers] would have the audacity to bitch at this organization for helping another promote good health (in this case, breast health) information for women. And their only basis is because it's from Planned Parenthood on an issue that has nothing to do with breast health. It sickens me even more when organizations give into those groups.
