For those who enjoy sending Christmas cards, you may also want to consider this one:

When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please include the following: A Recovering American Soldier
C/O Walter Reed Army Medical Center
6900 Georgia Avenue, NW
Washington, D.C. 20307-5001
If you approve of the idea, please pass it on to your friends.

ETA: Unfortunately, not.  http://www.snopes.com/politics/christmas/soldiercards.asp

I was under the impression this came down through semi-official channels, since it came from our family readiness group leader, but apparently still not safe.

In fact, you CAN'T send stuff to 'any soldier' any more. Security. I saw this one on Snopes the other day.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.

Thanks. I knew the "Any Soldier" mail is no longer going - not just because of security, but because it was also killing the mail over there.

I wondered about it, but this came down from official channels.

Off to email someone.
