New CD: Reba, Duets
Oct. 13th, 2007 08:45 pmI don't normally do music posts, but I did want to share about this one.
As my fellow country music fans know, Reba is one of the fixtures of country music since the 80s or so. No 1990s country music awards show was complete without one performance and numerous changes. She also used to have the most magnificent hair until she cut it. (Yes, I was sad.) In fact, if you think about it, she's sort of like the country music world's Madonna - she keeps changing her image to change with the times.
The Duets CD is pretty good. I don't much care for the one with Kelly Clarkson, but that's partly because I'm trying to decide if the "you" belongs to a bad relationship or an abusive one (possibly parent-child).
The one with Trisha Yearwood, entitled "She Can't Save Him" is very good. Hits home for those of us who have lived with alcoholics who can't make themselves change.
The one with Kenny Chesney is good, and sad. ("Every Other Weekend")
The one with Faith Hill, "Sleeping With The Telephone", is excellent, and its a good one for military wives, as well as police wives.
