Not to knock anyone's parenting choices, but I think this is NUTS.

I knew a woman who did this. It actually works, although she always put a diaper on her son when they weren't at home. The upside is that as soon as the kid is able to get to the toilet on his or her own steam, bingo! The whole trauma of toilet training is avoided.

Ok.
I can see how, in some traditional societies, it can sort of work.

But: This literatlly makes the mother hostage to the baby's shit. I would say parent, but I've yet to see a man advocating it. Her time, energy and effort must be sublimated 100% to the need of the baby to pee.

I am sorry. I absolutely cannot get behind this. I am worth more than my hypothetical child's excrement.

This woman was doing the "attachment parenting" thing, so she was hostage to the baby's everything.

Wow.

Although I learned something as an offshoot of it. I learned that toddlers fart. I thought they were more of the SBD variety until they were older, but apparently not. Learn something new every day.

I came across EC (elimination communication) about six months ago, as I was investing methods of potty training. I found it over the top then, and I still feel like it is over the top now. Yes, perhaps it makes potty training easier as they get older, but IMO, it seems to me that they're not potty training the child, but the child is training them.

Kudos to all parents who have that extra time to do EC with their children.

yep, pretty sure it is crazy. Mind you, I am not the model for sucessful potty training...but I agree with NB...I am worth more than my kids tolieting habbits.
