Finished reading through Chuck Schumer (D-NY)'s book Positively American and discovered that while I may consider myself to be middle-class in an economic sense, I'm not in the sense he means.

Off it goes to Bookmans'. It's not bad, but it's not worth occupying space on my bookshelf permanently either. I had higher hopes for it.

Also, I think his plan to have regular college students augment DLI grads and native speakers is a bit... unrealistic. Three years of taking language classes (NOT for a degree) doesn't seem like it would give you the same level of proficiency that DLI grads are required to have. Language proficiency is definitely an area where a little can be dangerous.
