Godspeed, Jim Baen

I've seen this at least five or six times among the LMB portion of my f-list :

From the obituary:

Jim had the advantage over some editors in that he knew what a story is. He had the advantage over most editors in being able to spot talent before somebody else had published it. (Lois Bujold, Eric Flint, John Ringo and Dave Weber were all Baen discoveries whom Jim promoted to stardom.)

All of whom have solid places on our bookshelves, along with Elizabeth Moon.

I started with this little SF/space opera series somewhat modeled on the Hornblower books from Baen because I was bored, even though the cover art needed help, badly. The second book in the series cemented me in reading it, and over the years since, my bank account and Baen have had a close, giving relationship.
