COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Former Ohio State football star Maurice Clarett agreed Monday to plead guilty to aggravated robbery and carrying a concealed weapon. The deal would send him to prison for at least 3 1/2 years and end two criminal cases against him.

The agreement was announced by Judge David Fais on the day jury selection was to begin in a case in which Clarett is accused of holding up two people outside a bar.

The concealed weapon charge was from his August arrest after a highway chase with police who found four loaded guns in Clarett's sport utility vehicle after they spiked the tires. Police used pepper spray to subdue and handcuff Clarett, who was wearing a bulletproof vest.

The deal called for a 7 1/2-year sentence with release possible after 3 1/2 years. The 22-year-old player also agreed to serve five years of probation after the prison sentence.

Clarett said he understood he was pleading guilty and reversing his earlier innocent plea.

"I'd like to apologize for my behavior, and I accept the time that was given to me," he said.

After the deal was announced, he looked over at his mother who was sobbing and holding his 8-week-old daughter while sitting next to his girlfriend.

*****

Well, I feel bad for his daughter. Mostly because she had to get half her genes from a talented athlete but otherwise pretty worthless human being.

I'm sure the Buckeye fans are relieved to have this BS over.

Take heart, fans of the Browns, Dolphins, Chiefs, Packers, Panthers, Lions, Buccaneers, Panthers, Texans, and Titans. As hard as it might be to believe after your teams fell to 0-2 on Sunday, things could be worse.

You could be rooting for the Raiders.

Yay! We aren't the absolute worst!

Not posting the whole article because I'm not that into college ball. This was too good though.

Making sense of the Maize
Among “Separation Saturday” winners, there is no bigger one than Michigan coach Lloyd Carr. Second place goes to anyone who has tickets for the Ohio State-Michigan game on Nov. 18. With his team’s showing Saturday at Notre Dame, Carr quieted critics and saved his job — at least until the huge road clash against the Buckeyes, who have an excellent chance of still being No. 1 by that time. Carr is 1-4 against Jim Tressel, his counterpart at Ohio State. Because Michigan finished 7-5 last year — its worst season in 21 years — and because the Buckeyes are rolling even with a bunch of new starters on defense, the perception is that Michigan is a program on the decline and Ohio State is one on the rise. Perceptions die hard. But the Notre Dame win gives the Wolverines’ renewed mojo. And if Carr’s team can run the table from here on out and knock off Ohio State, he’ll get an extension. If not, he might get fired.

Notre Dame is a rivalry. But Ohio State is a jihad.

Such are the vagaries of college football, and the whims of disgruntled alumni.

So true, so true.

So, I'm bored, and Adrianna wants to eat lots.

For lack of better entertainment, I wandered into [livejournal.com profile] childfree. A bit harsh in there, but hey, having kids is NOT for everyone. Even when you really want to have kids, they're still a lot of hard work. I just find it interesting to check out various viewpoints.

While I was in there, I picked up this link: http://www.aboverubies.org/articles/101.html

101 Reasons For Having Children.

This is better than the Prairie Muffin Manifesto bit. Same mindset, although these folks have their own magazine. Not listing all of them, just some of my favorites.

We not only want to receive gifts from God for ourselves, but we want to give more gifts to the world. Every God gives us is a gift to the world

It's an honor for the Lord to use my womb again.

The birth of a baby is the ultimate fulfillment of love between a husband and wife. Each child is an unbreakable bond between a father and mother.

Well, yes. Even if you get divorced, you're still tied to that person in some way. Not that this is always a good thing.

I'll have more hands to help.

I'll have more babies to nurse and therefore less risk of breast cancer.

It's just as easy to cook for ten as it is for one!

We want to establish a godly dynasty that will continue down the generations to come.

We desire to raise up a standard for God in this evil day.

I'm replenishing the earth with godly seed.

To be open to more children shows our present children that we love them. How can our children understand the love of God if we have the attitude that a certain number of children is too many?

I want to rear strong soldiers for the Lord.

My body was created for this purpose.

I want to yield my womb as a living sacrifice to God.

Babies are also a blessing to other people. They sure love to hold and cuddle mine. Since my siblings have stopped at two children per family, I want to supply them for my parents and everyone else's pleasure.

Yikes. I guess if it's working for them, go for it.

If things go as we plan, Adrianna will have a younger male sibling - and her furry siblings, of course. I love being a mother, but I want us to be able to have nice things for our children.
