Hopefully not a preview of Monday....
Dec. 12th, 2004 06:04 pmTwo days in a row like this will make me homicidal.
First part wasn't so bad, except for the getting up at the crack of dawn bit. I know it's a part of Army life, but I still don't have to like it. I just have to do it.
But then, four hours into my shift, my nemesis showed up. (raeyn, etc, you know of Whom I Speak). He apparently feels the need to babysit, and bitch at me about paperwork that's not done, even though there are 2 other team chiefs. I don't think he likes having a competent E-4 doing an E-5/E-6 job. Well, does he think I like being an E-4 still? I'm sorry I didn't join the AF so I could engage in competetive backstabbing and being a Super Volunteer for brownie points just to get fives on my EPR. I joined the Army because I like it and I didn't realize I'd end up in Joint Service Purgatory.
Then he asks questions that prove he pays no attention to our work.
Went to PT and vented my fury on the elliptical machine.
Enjoying an evening of giftwrapping and watching the Lions (hopefully??) not screw this one up.

Date: 2004-12-12 04:23 pm (UTC)Eeep, I do love it when people sum up my thoughts so eloquently. I personally joined the AF because I didn't want to PT, but that didn't work out so well XD
Hope your evening ends up better than you day, chicka :)

Date: 2004-12-13 06:42 am (UTC)I don't really care for AD air force. The minglings I've had with it (outside of the obvious BMT/tech school) have been...uh....we won't go there :-D I don't care for people who are pompus freaks.
When does your Christmas Exodus start?
Exodus?
Date: 2004-12-14 12:40 am (UTC)I work with DV AND raeyn. We don't GET Exodus. Hell, we don't even get Christmas off. We work in a 24/7/365(6) mission and someone has got to be there at all times. If you're scheduled to work, you work. If not, you're off. If you want extended time off, you take leave. That is the only way to escape our hell.
I feel her pain, but luckily, I am no longer part of the section under "MSGT-wannabe Butthead". He is no longer in charge of me, and again, luckily, I am only there for about 2 hours before he goes home for the day. DV and raeyn get the full force of his BS winds, and I highly sympathize with them, and feel bad for them every day.
DV, dear...just grin and bear it, b/c word on the street is...he's moving to MY head shed soon. *vomits*
Re: Exodus?
Date: 2004-12-14 08:37 am (UTC)Thanks for your attitude. Maybe I did take it the wrong way. I don't take kindly to people thinking 'just becuase i'm a reservist' I don't a) do my time b) know shit about the military.
Happy Holidays.
Re: Exodus?
Date: 2004-12-14 10:50 am (UTC)I suppose I was angry because yesterday I, again, realized how much all the dayho's (people in our job who work m-f, 0630-0230) really score with time off during the holidays just becuase someone says so. They too, like your friends, get significant time off just because it's the holidays and their mission is not 24/7/365, like mine and DV's/Raeyn's. They never consider helping out people who are in my mission, even though they once worked in our section, because they figure they did their time, and they earned this time off. So much for Service Above Self. These people are just out for themselves at this point and I'm just bitter and I suppose you seemed like a good diversion target of my anger. Again, my sincere apologies.
As for your icon, I can barely read it and it was really late when I made that reply to your original comment. It was dark in the room, and blurry to read.

TSgt G has worked out a minimum sked for who's on standby. So we're not sucking too too badly.
Of course, if I wanted to take leave, I'd have had to put it in back in October.

You're sitting on my jury, if it's ever called for. I figure enough shiftworkers who've been trapped there for 2 years plus and they'll give me a medal instead.

Well, hopefully, I'll be gone soon. But that would be sweet.
Especially when he's rambling to me about how the Army hasn't set a class date and they need 6 months of notification to write the award, and they can't just write the award, because 1 time in 3 years the orders got cancelled after they wrote the award and... FUCK!! Believe me, as soon as I know, I'll tell him.
