Green River, Running Red by Ann Rule. I wouldn't call it her best book (for me, that's still Small Sacrifices), and definitely the better of the two books on the Green River Killer that I've read. One of the reasons I like her writing is that they're about the victims, not glorifying the killer or getting cheap thrills. They remind you that the people who died were real people who had real lives before they were killed. My only question is, what's up with the taller than average paperback size?

At All Costs by David Weber is the latest mainstream Honor Harrington book. The spoilery review (spoilers cut) is here:

It was a good book, although I'm wondering how he gets them out of the hole they're in now, and how many more books are left. It also does a good job of tying in events from the other two side series going. Oh yes, and my depression over character death at the end.

Eating For Two by Hess and Hunt was specifically about nutrition during pregnancy (not yet, just reading up). It's dated 1994 but seems pretty decent on being up to date.

The Clumsiest People in Europe, a condensation of Mrs. Favell Lee Mortimer's "travel guides" by Todd Parzan. The original works are Victorian-era, and a little scary due to the incredible amount of anti-Semitic/anti-Roman Catholic prejudice. Still interesting.

The Dark Side of River Heights by Renee Walker is more of a tally of some of the darker things about the Nancy Drew books (ie, numbers of illegal acts and spoiledness) than analysis/discussion. Still entertaining.

Objection! by Nancy Grace. Well, if you watch the show, you know what to expect. A little screechy and overly biased towards the prosecution for my taste, but still interesting.

Dancing at Midnight by Julia Quinn. It's one of her older ones, but I rather liked it. More formulaic than some of her later stuff.

Bush-Whacked: Chronicles of Government Stupidity by Leland Gregory is pretty entertaining. It picks on some of the president's many mis-speaks, as well as ones belonging to Cheney, Rumsfeld, etc. Another fun things is the budget tidbits of pork barrel that it throws in randomly.

How many more Honor books? I'd guess 1-2, but I could see it stretching on quite a bit longer. Two things need to be done - make peace with Haven, and deal with Mesa/Manpower. (Did you notice that Honor and the Head Honcho at Mesa/Manpower are family enemies of long standing?) If something can be done to get Elizabeth to talk to Eloise, I think peace will come fairly quickly. I'll bet that we saw the setup for that - Anton and Victor going undercover somewhere to get proof on the assassinations will almost certainly implicate M/M, and proof will get Haven & Manticore talking. I'm actually expecting the two of them to end up pounding very hard on Mesa. I could see the whole thing being wrapped up in one book, but I can also be it stretched out for quite a while. Part of the question is how much Navy can Mesa get protecting it how fast, and how blatant are Haven & Manticore willing to get? I see hints that M/M is about ready to kick off the final stage of their long-term (generations!) plan to take over all of human space - it's going to take a military, so where are they getting it? And can Haven & Manticore be sufficiently successful against the Solarian League? I see at least one major battle against the Sollies in the future - it's going to be rather fun to watch the complacent Sollies get horrified at the pounding they take.

Did you ever read her Stranger Beside Me? That was my favorite, followed by Small Sacrifices.

Just finished it today.

I still think I like Small Sacrifices a teeny bit better.

It was definitely interesting, though.
