Stranded at Roadside Motel: (Storm Optional) This can be a venue for case fic or get a room already. I just like the isolation, especially if you work the weather in, and the feeling that anything could happen here, even if it’s only for a night. Obviously in some of these you can stretch the definition of “roadside motel” as long as the spirit is met. Rooms with Only One Bed are optional.

vanishing hitchhiker: I will always love one of these. I’m down for a vanishing hitchhiker in any fandom, any era. I love the whole part where they don’t realize it’s a ghost until the end. If you would like to invoke Resurrection Mary, go for it. I would also consider reverse phantom hitchhikers (ie, the hitchhiker is real, the vehicle is not) as well as places that aren’t really there.

bets & wagers but make it sexy ;) : Exactly what it sounds like – ridiculous wagers or serious ones, but sexy stakes. A little competition doesn’t hurt…

Big Damn Rescue (with a kiss) : Everyone needs a rescue now and then…and a kiss!

Castaways in Time Have Chance to Go Home: I like the possibilities inherent in this one, especially if some castaways make the decision to stay in their new time. How are they torn? Where is the conflict?

Castaways in Time: I’m a huge Nantucket fan, and this is the heart of the series – waking up and finding yourself out of your own time.

Portal Only Open Temporarily: I was initially thinking of this in connection with Castaways in Time, but it could also be interesting to look at with time travel/alternate dimensions. What if everyone can’t make it home? Does someone have to stay so everyone else can go?

Characters Solving Problems Like The Adults They Are : Pretty much what it says. No hand-wringing or waffling, just Do The Thing (and maybe have feeling about it after), feel free to complain while you’re working. I don’t know who nominated this tag but I loved it. No flailing or Big Mis, just “we need to do the thing, let’s do the thing” energy. Calm, competent and collected.

Country House Party: Feel free to channel either Regency or Golden Age of Mystery here, but it should match the settings. I love groups of people gathered together who don’t go together, being stuck with social formalities, semi-polite snarky shots at each other, and a mystery (optional). Great setting for mystery and romance.

Dimension Travel - alternate dimensions where canon events went differently: alternate dimensions where canon events went differently – This one is one of my favorites (and goes along with the one below) – what do our people think of the alternate dimensions? What do they think of our people? Feel free to mash a few together.

Frank Talk about How Nations/Countries/Planets Have No Friends: A little geopolitical reality.

Villain and hero both agree hero’s loved one is delightful – Exactly what it sounds like. I do love when heroes and villains find some commonality, especially if the loved one could fall on either side.

Dimension Travel – counterparts are in a relationship – Yes, make them think about it PLEASE. Maybe they’re in the only timeline where they aren’t together…?

Dreams and nightmares – Symbolic and weird and revealing the character’s subconscious – If you’re a B5 fan, then key up Sheridan’s weird dream because that is EXACTLY the vibe I want here. Or the Duck Tales 2017 episode where Glomgold has amnesia, which made my daughter say B5 called and wanted their weird dream back. Also love the bit where they’re sitting there trying to figure out WTF all that was.

intimate makeouts in cars while pulled over in out-of-the-way places: I’m into both the physical and emotional intimacy here. Bonus points if it is raining/storming/other bad weather. Feel free to have them head off into some sort of mystery afterwards where they don’t have Time to Deal with All of That Now. Feel free to stretch the definition of “car” to fit the canon/moment.

Pulling someone in by their tie for a kiss: I love how this looks/feels (man wearing the tie, woman doing the kissing), and also here for possessive straightening/fixing of ties.

Megafauna survives to canon's present day: I’m particularly fond of saber-toothed cats here. Feel free to be a little cracky.

Character A displays an unexpected competence. Character B is smitten – Bonus points if A has taught B? I like the unexpected here, like finding out the guy you never see read a book actually has a degree in 14^th century French lit. Or more practical, like swordsmanship.

Character A drapes their jacket over B's shoulders – What I like here is the moment and sensations – the warmth of A’s body still in the jacket? Cologne/perfume/soap? Feel free to treat “jacket” loosely, although I do love a good military jacket over the shoulders…

Characters lost in a labyrinth – So you can play this one deep or simple, there can be monsters or it can just be a challenge, but I love the trying to find their way out aspect. Bonus points if the couple is trapped in the labyrinth and finds each other…

Characters Tell Children About Canon Events As If They Are A Fairy Tale – I prefer this as a take on “How your parents met”, best as bedtime stories – love the realization that it’s a real story by one of the party…

Exploration of Aftermath of Canon Events – Pretty much what it sounds like. What happens next and/or how are people holding up?

If The World Was Ending I'd Want to Be Next to You – I really love Bruno Mars “Die with a Smile” and that’s the vibe we’re going with. The world does not have to end (in at least one fandom, it already sort of has) …

Some Surrenders are Sweeter than Others – And some falls are harder than others, and sometimes you need a really big brick…but this was pretty profound for a 80s toy cartoon.

Dimension travel to a significantly diverged timeline – They don’t have to STAY (in fact, I prefer they not stay) but I love the differences, and the pondering what should happen once back home aspect. Maybe investigate some new relationships – or just be happy for the ones you have? It can be a good divergence or bad one.

Characters investigate and explore a strange location – It can be eerie or haunted or just someplace NEW but I do like there to be something unsettling.

Character A's Hand Over B's Mouth to Muffle Noise – So I like this whether it’s surprising someone from behind or someone being kept quiet for other reasons.

Dreams and Nightmares - Nightmares That Are Memories – I am here for memories played straight as nightmares, or tending toward more fears of what could have happened/a little twisted. I do like when characters are aware it’s a dream.

Worldbuilding - justifying canon inconsistencies – So some of my favorite canons have inconsistencies due to real-life issues, but I love coming up with an in-world explanation. (This is mostly Voltron which has plot holes you could pilot robot lions through.)

Entering someone's dreams/nightmares – This is one I’m toying with in a WIP but interested in a sort of shared reality type setup, or helping another character out of a nightmare.

A&B Trapped in Secret Passage By Friends Who Want A&B to Get Together: Exactly what it sounds like. Sometimes love/lust needs a little help from their friends…

Outsider POV - Would You Two Just Fuck Already? : More than get a room, just get it out of your systems. Or not…. Stop fighting it and just fuck already. On this one, I enjoy other people thinking the same thing about the couple, and maybe doing what they can to make it happen. It doesn’t have to be a casual thing (despite saying just fuck already) but this vibe doesn’t end in “nice sex”.

That one scene from canon but make it sexier: Exactly what it sounds like. Take that moment that for some reason did NOT turn romantic/sexy (even though it was RIGHT THERE RIGHT THERE) and turn it. If you’re a TNG fan, the ending of the Attached episode is the vibe. Or Strange New Worlds S1E2, when the moment is clearly ripe and passed by.

Undercover - Undercover as a Couple brings out Feelings: Either pretending a little too well, or seeing each other in a new light? I’m here for We Need a Distraction or We Need to Kiss for…Reasons and We Kept Kissing.

Trapped together - snowed in and forced to huddle for warmth or freeze: I really like the physical isolation of this one. Murder She Wrote Season 4 episode “Snow White, Blood Red” and ND/HB SM book The Last Resort are essentially what you’re looking for here. The tag includes huddling for warmth but I don’t need that.

Ridiculously Gothic Atmosphere: Foreboding dark corners and secrets! Family prophecy and ghosts! A dark threatening estate owner and a plucky heroine determined to save him. Hidden passages and secret treasures. Last night I dreamed of Manderley….

Can't be fixed but they can be managed: If you watched SNW S2E8 this is the truest way to explain PTSD.

Time Travel Fix-It: Put the bandaid on where canon hurt me, before canon can do it.

sparring as foreplay: You know where to go from here – fighting practice that slides to sexy, with that growing awareness on both sides.

Dimension travel - meeting alternate versions of self/friends/antagonists: I love this, especially if they have to work with/against themselves. Either slam a bunch of timelines together (did I mention I just reread Q-Squared?) or one on ones.

Fix-It: I’ll tell you where canon hurt me, you apply the bandaid. Even if it isn’t wrong, sometimes I would have liked a different ending.

Being Picked Off One by One: I love the tension inherent in this one, especially if they don’t know that the person picking them off is an outsider or not. (I am pretty good either way)

Bored Old Man Faked His Own Death and Left Clues To Frame His Family Members: In other words, what I thought Knives Out was going to be. Feel free to use as a Case Fic setup or fuse your characters into it.

In-Universe True Crime: Case fic starter, feel free to involve books/podcasts or adapt a real crime to suit. I also like the whole “giving a fictional crime the true crime treatment”.

Can't Stop Thinking About It - A Accidentally Sees B Naked: Pretty much what it says. Going back to the moment in their head, trying not to think about it when they see them normally, stammery embarrassed moments.

First Time Seeing Partner Naked: Here I really like the “better/more than I expected” aspect here, the wondering description and the “God I’m so lucky” factor.

For Richard/Maureen, HOW do they hook up? Are the kids away? Sweet or sexy is good. The fake to real pipeline could be fun for Maureen to initiate. I am equally down for the girls being on vacation or not, but that does give them space. And notes in books! I am totally part of the part of BSC fandom more invested in the parents and wondering if Stoneybrooke is like Peyton Place. Bonus points if Elizabeth is helping fix them up! I’ve received a lovely story for FIAB 2023 about Richard being a ball of anxiety and I’d be down for either of them experiencing jitters. I’ve never been a Dawn fan, TBH, or any of the Schaefer crew. There’s a lot more specifics on this one, but that’s just because I’ve been thinking about it for longer.

So what I'm here for is pretty simple: What if the uptimers had a chance to go HOME? Or at least see home? What if they could bring one thing back?

I'd be totally down for a Nantucket house party, with a little intrigue, a little diplomacy, a little bragging.

Or, how might their descendants explain or make their past into a fairy tale? Is there an ancient vanishing hitchhiker story they could draw on OR do they encounter one?

I really love this series. Yes, it relies a little too heavily on coincidences and Stirling can be heavy handed but I love it and was really miffed that we have 10-plus books of PNW dystopia and only 3 of this! I totally love the uptimer/downtimer vibes and the inevitable in-jokes that have to develop.

I love Kash and Kathryn, how they balance each other out and really work. Kathryn and Martha have more in common than they think, and their interactions could be really good.

Castaways in Time Have Chance to Go Home – I would really love to see this, especially if some people (ie Kathryn) choose NOT to go home. Whether they go back to 1998 or another point, I’m down to see it. Or a temporary portal? What if Kash could see 1998 for a day? Could the Nantucketers bring anything back? Go wild.

Castaways in Time – This is the heart of the series. Anything on it works for me. The conflict between the uptimers/downtimers, the things that they miss that could never quite be explained, how they’re viewed.

Country House Party – I think a Nantucket diplomatic house party would be DELIGHTFUL. Channel Poirot here (murder optional).

Vanishing Hitchhiker – Do they meet one? Feel free to look at historical ones, although they’re fairly far from Madame Pele’s neighborhood.

Beach/CG are just one entry in my list of "gruff/sarcastic guy gets the girl" couples, and I love them driving each other nuts.

Mainframe/Zarana, I am completely here for a rescue type story.

I helped create CG/BH as a shippy couple and I miss them. The other two have a opposites attract vibe that I like. To be fair, Beach and CG are also opposites attract and then drive each other nuts before they get a room. I have not written for them in awhile, but BH/CG takes me back to a warm little fandom place. Stolen moments are good.

I also love love love Mainframe/Zarana – but how much more fun would it be if she really was working for GI Joe? I’m seeing a rescue story here as a possibility. Feel free to play around with him not being amused about the whole double agent thing. If you take that route, I am fine with Zandar being not a bad guy (unlike their other brother).

I am good with leaving set solidly within the 80s (as the cartoon does) or moving it to some amorphous “present day”. I do have military experience but do not require strict adherence to reality (sadly I was misled as to how many ninjas I would get to work with…)

Aside from the nominated characters, I am a fan of Deep Six, Torpedo, Dusty, Doc, Roadblock, Duke, Scarlet, Lady Jaye (not a huge Flint fan), Gung Ho and General Hawk. In general I accept the Baroness/Destro ship but really prefer the WWE alternate Baroness/Steeler.

So for the 80s cartoons, this one gets left out a lot, possibly because it’s not on DVD, but I love it. It had the potential to be smarter than some of the others, and there’s just something about it that works and is intriguing.

I would really love a good canon-typical plot with romance!

These are one of my rare pair favorites, anything sexy or sweet will do!

I’ve been requesting this and thinking about them more. Fandom is small, it feels like about five people (okay, maybe 10) on AO3 have even heard of it (eps are available online) and there’s a lot of room to play, a lot of depth and room to explore.

I love how evenly matched Cryotek/Galadria are. The whole scene where we see her surprise him (and then they get interrupted by the baddies) is ripe for “like canon but make it sexier”. But in that scene I love how they immediately slide back to back, and she is an asset, not a liability. Please bring the shippiness. I love that the gruff, stern guy got the girl instead of the usual hero character. I’m totally here for the two of them kicking some ass, getting down, meeting alternate version of themselves, having romantic sexy times. Not a fan of damsels in distress, but sometimes a girl needs a little help.

For worldbuilding prompts: New trials at the Shrine? More knights? Are the current ones recruiting like a competition?

There’s a stupid running joke about botanical gardens that is clearly to entertain adults but tell me about it! Perhaps each region has an area, or it ends up being like the Hanging Gardens?

I think something where they are on a joint mission and have to cooperate with Cindarr (who is not really quite so bad as the rest of the crew) would be interesting. What do they think of him? What does he think of them? Channel the tag “Villain and hero both agree that hero’s loved one is delightful” and I am in. Teaming up with their counterparts for Reasons is always entertaining.

How does PTSD affect the characters? How did the collapse of their society impact them? Obviously our characters coped fairly well.

I love both of these couples!

The Lions are alive. The Lions are alive. Whether with Lion Spirits or the spirits of their former/first pilots, there is something more there than just a machine. Tell me about it. Allura communing with the spirit of Blue Lion could be fun, or can she feel her father’s spirit in Black Lion?

I really like the idea that the lions have a spiritual component. There’s a great take on it here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/114508. The idea of the lions adapting to pilots and vice versa is a very interesting one.

Royal ball. Give me some fancy dresses and dancing and intrigues. Or maybe a royal wedding?

I don’t have as much in the way of specific prompts for this one, but think post-canon adventures for the pairings. Or strike out on the AU pathways!

Sven/Romelle. Quiet moments make me happy (a sweet quiet moment? A sexy quiet moment?). They’re my OTP in this one, I love how they’re both healing from trauma in their own ways, and how they need each other. You can cause them some more trauma as long as all ends well. What if Sven didn’t drop off the team? Some things can’t be fixed just maintained.

Dimension Travel - alternate dimensions where canon events went differently – Feel free to use any of the Canon Divergence ideas or if you really know this one, a little Beast King Go-Lion inspired reality? I think a mirror universe deal would be very powerful to explore with Allura – a deal where her parents are still alive, but she has to discover the hard way they aren’t the good guys. Sounds like a job for Lance to rescue her…
