My general preferences are here.
My blanket DNW are graphic/extreme violence, sexual violence, cruelty to animals/children, death of nominated characters.
To keep this letter from being five miles long, I like to talk about the generic AUs upfront. Anything in this section is applicable to all fandoms unless stated otherwise.
1920s: Dangerous and glamorous! The fashions! The upheaval!
1930s: The 1920s bleed over into this, but I’m also here for some Depression-era vibes and Hollywood glam vibes as well. That being said I also love the fashions here, especially evening wear.
And Then There Were None fusion: I love the stranded on the island, why have we all been brought together, mysterious host and circumstances, people getting picked off (you don’t necessarily need to kill them off) vibe of the story. If you have a pair of characters standing in as Vera/Philip from the play version that is a plus.
Boarding School AU – This one is all about the hijinks. Hidden passages, silly pranks and plots, girls vs. boys. I’ve been reading some of the 1910s-1930s series juvenile fiction lately, and the whole sense of really identifying with the school resonates. (Grace Harlowe is the latest, for the curious.)
Canon Divergence AU – I am all about the paths not taken and what-ifs. I am totally here for fix-its, but I’m also here for wandering down different roads.
Canon 100x more gothic and forboding: Yes I am here for atmospheric and abandoned/isolated places (that maybe were never really there) and creepy family secrets and brooding heroes with dark pasts and heroines who don’t quit on them…and fog.
Character Journeys To The Underworld to Rescue Their Dead Friend/Lover –I love the idea of fighting everything for a person you love, of trying to rescue them (and succeeding please!). I’m also interested in how they get to/enter the underworld, and bargains/confitions.
Clue Fusion – Exactly what it sounds like. Whether it involves characters from Clue or just mirrors the setup is up to you. I love the house, the dark and stormy night, the secret, the time limit to figure out who is the killer, and the surprises. My faves are Wadsworth, Miss Scarlet and Mrs. White.
Cozy Mystery in Canon Setting: So here I’m totally down for a small mystery that maybe isn’t so small as it looks (paging Miss Marple), or a totally fluffy mystery.
Dimension hopping to find a timeline that isn't doomed – I love how they refuse to give up, even as the timelines don’t get better. (Please have it end on a better note, hopeful at least)
Dimension travel to a significantly diverged timeline – Similar to the Canon Divergence AU, only in this one people can go back along the path untraveled back to “current” reality. They aren’t stuck there (well, unless one of them wants to be?)…
Dinosaurs & Tropical-Type Climate & Flora Survived to Canon – Looking for a lost-world island type thing here (which, of course, canon villains will use in their plots). Including a pterodactyl is a MUST (and either character is picked up in its claws or rides it)! Saber-toothed kitties please?
Duck Tales (2017 reboot) fusion – Feel free to leave non-DT characters as they are or make them ducks/birds as appropriate, but I really want to see how some of the characters – like Gyro, Fenton, and SHUSH/FOWL play in.
Enemies forced to work together: I love the temporary truce, the grudging realization that this is the only option, the discovery that maybe the baddies aren’t all that bad… maybe even a moment of wishing they didn’t have to be enemies? I’m also there for working together right up until the second they can turn on each other again. I had to drop “Earth invaded by aliens” but if you would like to work that in, GO RIGHT AHEAD. Invaded is the key word here, not interested in the aliens WINNING but I am totally here for opposing sides having to work together. And if you want to invoke the whole “fauna makes Earth a death world” and have the animals play a part, I am down.
The female characters are the main characters: Not looking for major changes in their roles but focus on the female – and if possible give the women a chance to lead and/or show their stuff. Classic examples for me are Nancy Drew realizing a ransom message is written in eyeliner pencil, or Della advising Perry about women up to no good.
Figure skating AU – Here for the playful and the fun. I’ve enjoyed Yuri on Ice and had the early to mid 1990s fascination with figure skating. Feel free to involve hockey players as well.
Flying Dutchman AU: They don’t have to sail around the Cape but looking for the heart of the story – the determination to do the thing even if it take eternity, the abandoned ship – feel free to evoke Mary Celeste as well. This one translates nicely to space-based canons.
Gothic Romance AU: Like the “canon more Gothic” but focus on that brooding hero and the romantic elements.
Hell’s Kitchen Fusion: I’m down for this where the characters become the contestestants (or at least one or two). Obviously Gordon Ramsay is Gordon – my favorite sous chefs are Christina Wilson, Jocky, and Scott.
House on Haunted Hill Fusion: Much like Clue and ATTWN, I love the group gathered by a host who has Plans for them and an isolated location, where obviously they can’t just leave. Ghosts are not required, but the trapped until dawn factor is a favorite. I prefer the original with Vincent Price overall, but I do love the builder’s descendant in the 1997 remake. “I lied. The house is alive, we’re all going to die.” I’m good with some people surviving. Running out of Scotch is optional.
Hunger Games AU – Really interested in the Games/tribute aspect of this, but prefer for the characters’ canon to be transformed, not to be taken to Panem.
Ice Age Never Ended AU – I like the idea of sticking the canon in an ice-age landscape (yes complete with megafauna). Saber-toothed kitties please!
Jonny Quest fusion – Including Quest and crew and the gadgets could be a lot of fun. Prefer Classic Quest look but feel free to age them up and include Jade.
Miss Marple involved – Whether the mystery take them to St. Mary Mead or meet her whilst traveling, don’t overlook the old lady and her knitting.
Most Dangerous Game AU – Humans are the most dangerous game, and this prey fights back. This plays well with Trapped on an Island and the other trapped AUs, as well as enemies working together.
Multiple Universes collide: Cracky hand-waves ahoy! Feel free to McGuffin the EFF out of the mechanism, but I want to get groups of people together who shouldn’t be.
Murder on the Orient Express fusion – Include Poirot if you like, or focus more on the setup – a bunch of characters who don’t seem to be related but are, as the few outsiders discover.
One Character Writes Tell-All Novel – Spill the tea and make it HOT. Prefer the tea to be about nominated characters.
Regency House Party AU – This hits my people gathered together and Regency enjoyment nicely. Feel free to throw in some suitors, matchmaking mamas, meddlers and lush description. I love seeing how you can transform people to fit the Regency.
Snowed in at a Haunted Hotel – Group of people trapped together, isolated from the outside by the elements (and maybe One of Them is a Killer), having to deal with each other AND there’s a ghost. I love the snowed in, but feel free to have the ghost/haunting not be real (a la Scooby Doo).
Star Trek TOS fusion: Feel free to consider Strange New Worlds under this tag as well, but I want a situation where the chosen fandom gets brought into Trek.
Thin Man AU (snarky married sleuths) – Doesn’t have to be the same time period (although I am down for that as well) but preserve the Nick and Nora dynamic between the characters.
Time loop where character makes things worse before making them better: I love how they refuse to give up, even as the loops get worse. (Please have it end on a better note, hopeful at least)
Trapped on an island – Group of people tapped/stranded together, against the elements, danger in the midst? My jam. Conflict over how to handle things? Go. One of Them is a Killer. Go. Reveal a plot? Go.
Travel Between Alternate Timelines: All the fun of what-ifs, but no permanence. Did you read Q-Squared? Everything after “Derailment” would be great for me.
Trojan War AU – I was torn between this and Greek Mythology – I am not opposed to having the gods make appearances, but I prefer the human characters. Hector, Andromache, Odysseus, Penelope, Clytemnestra, Cassandra are some of my faves. If you put in an Agamemnon analogue, make sure you punish him.
True crime podcast AU – Pretty much what it sounds like. Please be respectful towards whatever fictional crime you use.
Crossover: Villain from one fandom is causing trouble in another fandom – I’m good with this being either a case where the villains cooperate OR the villain in the destination fandom is just as annoyed, leading to Heroes & Villains working together.

Elfman/Ever - Just get a room already!
For the Eclipse Gate not happening, what I would really like is for the competition to be just that - a competition. Fairy Tail should still kick ass, obviously, but no requirement to save the world. Feel free to focus on what should be an epic celebration party.
For the boarding school AU, I’m good with nommed characters being either the teachers or students.
For underworld journey, I really see this as Levy/Gajeel but it could work for any of them.
ALL: Canon Divergence – So many places and ways to go with this one, but I’d love what’s going on in the diverged canon we see in GMG?
All: Clue Fusion – Laxus with the lightning bolt in the guildhall?
ALL: Dimension hopping – You could really play this one off the Grand Magic Games/Eclipse gate.
All: Most Dangerous Game AU – I’m interested in an outside party (maybe Ivan) trapping them into it
All: Regency House Party AU – I think this would be hysterical.
All: Snowed in at haunted hotel – Is it a job? A trap? Just bad luck? Have fun!
All: Trapped on an Island – with a killer obviously! See above for Most Dangerous Game.
All: Trojan War AU – It could be interesting
All: Figure Skating AU – This could be good. Feel free to make some people hockey players as well.
For the significantly diverged timeline, one where Laxus’ father somehow becomes guild master would be interesting.
Hunger Games AU – Perhaps instead of districts, each guild has to give up a pair of tributes? Maybe make it the Grand Magic Hunger Games?
ATTWN fusion: I’d love to see this with Fairy Tail characters.
Cozy Mystery: I can see either Mira or Levy as the protagonist on this one, would love to see Laxus or Gajeel helping her under duress

G.I. Joe: Zarana works for G.I. Joe/Baroness works for G.I. Joe – The whole deal in Computer Complications? Mainframe/Zarana doomed romance – how much more fun is that if she’s actually a Joe. (So yes, a Joe pretending to be a COBRA pretending to be a Joe…) Please include MF/Z! Is she with GI Joe, pretending to be with COBRA, pretending to be with GI Joe when she meets Mainframe, or is their relationship the catalyst for her coming over? A plot where they channel Hart to Hart would also be good!
Or the Baroness as a double agent (tired of dealing with mercenaries who are being paid by the hour, perhaps?) would be excellent as well. Or maybe she has been one the whole time…
OR… For the Baroness or Zarana one (and if you did a set-up where they were each working for the Joes and neither one knows the other is, and they keep tripping over each other, that would be wonderful!), I’m interested in how they see the two groups, as well as their motivation. I’d also be interested in their interactions with Scarlett and/or Cover Girl.
G.I. Joe: One Joe is secretly a COBRA agent – I would prefer that it not be one of the nominated characters, or Dusty, but everyone else except Deep 6 and Torpedo is fair game. (Actually on this one Flint might be an excellent choice.) This one I’d also like Zarana to be involved. I’d prefer the focus be on the nominated characters trying to catch them. I don’t have a preference as to who you make the COBRA agent as long as you get into the why, just a little.
ATTWN fusion: I’m good with mixing Joes and Cobras on this one, or having COBRA members have a bunch of the unmasked Joes.
Canon Divergence AU – I’m really looking for the Worlds without End parallel universe storyline – what happens in that world? I’d also be interested in an AU stemming off the Serpentor arc.
Clue Fusion – What it says on the tin. Feel free to mix Joes and Cobras.
Cozy Mystery – Pretty much what it says. Bonus points if cozy mystery leads to COBRA.
Dimension hopping to find a timeline that isn't doomed – This could play nicely off the Worlds Without End storyline, or Serpentor. I’m completely down for them teaming up with the Worlds Without End crew and duplicates working together.
Dinosaurs & Tropical-Type Climate & Flora Survived to Canon Time Period – Island of dinosaurs, Joe and COBRA fighting to find it/conquer it. Paging Dr. Quest…. Joes and Cobras can work together on this one until it’s not needed… Or, to get real specific, remember “Cobra’s Creatures” and the animal mind control device? That could be a lot of fun.
Duck Tales (2017 reboot) fusion – G.I. Joe and COBRA but…in Duck Tales. We went to see the anniversary showing in the theaters, and I was thinking it would be fun to watch Gyro Gearloose and co deal with COBRA.
Hell’s Kitchen fusion: He’s not a nominated character, but you know you have to use Roadblock in this one. I’d prefer whatever nominated characters you use either watching him or keeping the dysfunction down so Roadblock can kill it in the competition. Maybe a Cobra is also competing?
Jonny Quest fusion – a Joe team up with Team Quest/COBRA working with Dr. Zim? I’m here for it. Feel free to combine with alien invasion, heroes & villains or dinosaurs. Or, to get real specific, remember “Cobra’s Creatures” and the animal mind control device? That could be a lot of fun.
Most Dangerous Game AU – Pretty much what it says on the tin. Bonus points if they have to work together. Focus on nominated characters, please!
Murder on the Orient Express – Again, a mix would be good, but why have they all been drawn together?

1930s: So what I’m really looking here for is these characters, but set in their more original 1930s timeline – but as we know them.
ATTWN: Feel free to involve other teen sleuths. Nancy and Frank would make an excellent Vera/Philip. Or they’ve been dragged there by an enemy of Carson or Fenton.
Boarding School – Prefer them to be the students (or posing as students) as opposed to teachers.
Canon Divergence, I’d be down for a tale where Nancy has both parents and the boys only have one.

Miss Marple – I think this would be fun because both sets do come from smaller towns. Take some lessons from Auntie Jane.
Most Dangerous Game – Trying to stay alive while solving the mystery.
Orient Express – One of the books sort of played off this, but pretty much what’s on the tin.
Regency House Party – Romance and mystery and a little meddling.

True Crime podcast – I love the idea that they might have competing podcasts, and have to compete or collaborate. If you’ve ever seen the show, you know what I’m talking about.

I love love love Winterfair.
Canon Divergence: I’d be very interested in an AU where Padma lives. Does it help or hurt Aral to have another claimant? How does Ivan fare? Or…if you wanted to kill Aral and leave Padma alive, that could be interesting as well…. I’m definitely for Alys/Padma but don’t want it to be the focus of the story. If you go with Time of Isolation didn’t end, I’d prefer it was interpreted as TOI didn’t end when it does in canon, and have it end either right before Gregor’s birth or with Gregor as a young man. I am totally here for Kareen not being history’s sacrifice. Perhaps she strikes a deal with Aral? I got an incredible Jacksonian House Vorpatril story in last year’s exchange (https://archiveofourown.org/works/33511999/chapters/83261830) but I’m greedy.
Clue Fusion – Exactly what it sounds like. I’d prefer a prole blackmailer.
Cozy Mystery – I feel like this one cries out for either Ivan/Tej or Kou/Drou.
Dimension travel – This would go nicely with the TOI AU.
GWTW novel fusion - Tell me of the Vorhamiltons or Vorwilkes? Maybe a smaller civil war, Barrayaran style? Lady Alys teaming up with Ellen Vorrobillard O’Hara or laying the smack down on Scarlett? Go for it.
Most Dangerous Game – I’d love to see Ivan and Tej have to work through this one.
One Character Writes Tell All - Dono could probably write a KILLER tell-all, or be suspected of it. Dish all the dirt and spill all the secrets! I’d also love one where Laisa and/or Tej are addicted to Barrayaran period drama (think the Vorcrawleys of Downton), with Alys critiquing – but maybe getting into some real stories?
Regency House party AU (perhaps designed to get Gregor an Empress) would be golden. Or the good Count Dono…
TOS fusion – So that’s where the wormhole goes... or perhaps combine this with the end of TOI. Away teams ahoy.
Travel between alternate timelines – Also goes nicely with TOI, or perhaps more personal differences.
Victorian Country Weekend – Much like the Regency, but this seems a little more Vorish, what?

1920s – I know this isn’t an art challenge, but thinking about the Jem crew in 20s dresses made me smile.
1930s – The Starlight House/Battle of the Bands, etc would really work nicely in this one. Also slinky 30s gowns.
ATTWN: I like to envision this with a Number One Fan type (Misery edition) – feel free to include Holograms and Misfits.
Boarding School AU – hijinks, maybe music as a side activity
Canon Divergence – The Glitter and Gold arc has the perfect missed opportunity to have Jerrica tell Rio, right after he saves her from the gang Eric hires to destroy the records. How would that go (especially after their fight) and how would it change things? I have received a good story for this one but would prefer a little more serious treatment of it.
Clue Fusion or Snowed In at Haunted Hotel – Both of these scenarios are ripe for Eric Raymond as blackmailer turned dead body. Feel free to be over the top 80s here!
Cozy Mystery – Love to see them solve something while on tour. Either Jerrica or Stormer seems like a great choice for this one.
Figure Skating AU: The bands as figure skaters, just keep the costumes outrageous!
Gothic Romance AU – Exactly what you think. Dark, foreboding, mysterious.
Hell’s Kitchen Fusion – I’m seeing them as guests here, but it could be good either way.
Murder on the Orient Express – Interesting to have a mix of people in on this one.
One Character Writes Tell-All Novel – When it’s all over someone spills the tea. More interested in it being ABOUT the nominated characters, rather than the nominated characters themselves. Maybe Pizzazz writes memoirs. Or feel free to make it a miniseries/documentary BASED on the tell-all novel.

Crossover: Villain from one fandom is causing trouble in another fandom – Partial to GI Joe for this one (especially if you go with the Morvania episode, where the woman who voices the Baroness is already voicing a baddie.
Craig Phillips win – How would this change dynamics? Raya is an okay character, but they don’t do a lot to flesh her out, where as Craig would bring some definite tension! I ship Craig/Aja and Kimber/Stormer. I like the Kimber/Stormer relationship, but would prefer not focusing on it in this one - feel free to have them in the background though. I am interested in how Aja and Craig's relationship might play out if he won.
Jacqui lives – How would this change dynamics? She can be alive at the time of the story or not, but not have her go down in that plane crash. I like to think she’d be a good addition, and see through all of Eric Raymond’s BS. Feel free to kill Emmett instead…or not.

I picked the trio of Allura & Romelle & Orla because it seems like Orla resides in another dimension, and that facilitates A LOT. Also she is interesting. I love Voltron but the plot holes are big enough to fly a robot lion through.
Travel between alternate timelines – Feel free to combine this with any of the Voltron specific AUs.
TOS fusion – Kirk and Voltron. It could be good. Feel free to include SNW crew, and if you go this route, Ortegas and Lance need to have some platonic moments.
Regency House Party – Nanny trying to get Allura married off even though there are suitors RIGHT THERE.
Gothic Romance/Canon more Gothic – Creepy, atmospheric. I feel like this one is good with Romelle/Sven or Allura/Lotor.
Dimension travel to significantly diverged timeline – see Voltron specific AUs, or if you know Golion and want to flirt with that – I’m down.
Canon Divergence AU – This can be a Voltron specific one, or less so. What if Sven didn’t drop off the team? What if more of the royal court survived?
Dimension hopping – See also Voltron specific AUs.
Mirrorverse and Evil Loved Ones – I think this would be very powerful to explore with Allura – a deal where her parents are still alive, but she has to discover the hard way they aren’t the good guys. Sounds like a job for Lance to rescue her…
Enemies forced to work together – Something where Lotor and Voltron have to join forces (even if only temporarily). Feel free to pull Merla in.
Underworld Journey – I would really love to see this one. I think it would be great for Romelle to go after Sven (or maybe reverse), with Allura and Lance along for the ride?
Lotor turns good – Like for real. Not temporary, but of course everyone is going to be highly suspicious. How does that play out?
Pilots have previous connections – Maybe it’s not coincidence that they all end up there? Maybe they’re selected for it (even if they don’t know why – not a big Voltron Force fan but the ep where they find the old ship that thinks Keith is his grandfather – that’s where I’m going) or maybe it’s coincidence.
Lotor conquers Arus – this could be good for any of the timeline ones. Of course he’ll keep Allura as his queen but maybe that backfires on him. I’m completely down for her stabbing him in bed.

Canon Divergence – This is a pretty new canon, so no strong preferences on this one (except maybe saving the kid in the Majalis episode) but I’m always down for a what-if involving Una and the Illyrians.
Character Journeys To The Underworld to Rescue Their Dead Friend – This feels pretty onbrand for the crew, honestly. If you have Chris or Una being rescued, feel free to swap in lover.
Clue Fusion – You know the drill by now. This one could be a lot of fun and the food will be fabulous. Or if you want to go with the board game (considering Spock has been exposed to Yahtzee and drinking games), go for it.
Dimension hopping to find a timeline that isn't doomed – If you want to play off the season finale, you know what to do. I’d also be down for a Gorn are taking over angle.
Dimension travel to a significantly diverged timeline – Same as above.

Snowed in at a Haunted Hotel – Seeing this as more of an away team thing but it could also be someone (or someones) on shore leave.
Time loop where character makes things worse before making them better – Feel free to play off the season finale on this one.
Trojan War AU – I’d like to see this where they’re pitted against another group on one side. No preference as to who plays what side, but I bet Una would make a great Cassandra.
Vorkosigan Saga fusion – I don’t care how you put them together, this could be fun.
