My Old Fandom Exchange letter

General wants/don't wants: Stories don’t need to be super sappy and sugary/fluffy, but please don’t get all grim and dark. Bittersweet can work if there are hopeful tinges. I like humor, and I don't think I do a good job of writing it - sparkling snappy dialogue always works!
I generally prefer het or gen. Explicit sex can be good, romance is always in (as applicable for this challenge).
I'm a fan of AU, but prefer canon-divergence or "what-if" scenarios, rather than "all the characters are at boarding school together" types.
I am a huge fan of "seemingly unrelated group of people trapped somewhere and discover they a) have something in common and b) can't just leave" - see Clue, see And Then There Were None. Also, given that soap operas are on the list, please feel free to get soap opera-ish! Half-siblings no one knew about! Illegitimate siblings you thought were just family friends! Psycho-half-siblings who want to kill you and take your life over! Convenient accidents! Baby switching! People disappearing from the hospital! Who shot whom! Crazy wills and marriages of convenience!
No dubcon/non-con, graphic violence and gore, sexual violence, cruelty to animals. No character death that isn't canon (feel free to kill extras off).
No matter which fandom we match on, I know I'm going to love what you write! So good luck!
Fandoms:
Two-Minute Mysteries - Give Octavia some agency, and involve Mrs. Sydney. One idea you may want to play with is a dinner party/weekend on isolated country estate where all the characters are invited, with a series of attempts to stump Dr. Haledjian. I am not expecting a pithy Two-Minute Mystery style mystery capped off with an obscure fact that "everyone" knows. (However, if that is something you want to do, go for it!) Why does Haledjian have so many friends who use him to test alibis? Do people dread his "Jessica Fletcher" factor? (ie, when he comes to visit, dead bodies show up). If you want to modernize the crew and bring cell phones into play, go for it. Focus on Octavia, please! I always picture her as being dark-haired. We used to read these when I was a kid, and it drove my dad and I nuts on car trips.
Wait Till Helen Comes - Maybe one of the first really creepy stories I read. However, I also have this bad problem where I constantly get sidetracked when reading onto minor characters. In this one, the cemetery caretaker (Mr. Simmons) tells Molly that his sister believes their cousin Rose was lured to her death in Harper Pond. Tell me that story - why was Rose one of the young, friendless girls the ghost preyed on? What's her back story? Did the unnamed sister try to save her like Molly does? And, another thing that bothers me: given this story, why doesn't Mr. Simmons say anything when they find Helen's gravestone at first? Is he concealing it for some reason?
My favorite Helen cover:
Dungeons and Dragons (Cartoon) - In the Hall of Bones episode, there is a female spirit warrior. Is she married to one of the men? Is she a warrior queen in her own right? Do they ever run into her and/or some of her descendants? Like I said above, I have a serious issue with getting sidetracked onto minor characters. Bonus points if you work in Eric and Sheila somehow. Maybe an abandoned castle with a secret garden? She's the one in the pink (of course) at the far left of the picture.

Visionaries: I love this show. I also love the Cryotek/Galadria relationship (nice to see a guy who's NOT the leader get the girl), especially the fact that he's all gruff and cranky and she's not. They complement each other well - I really love the whole bit in the opening trilogy where she ambushes him because she wanted to see him, and then they ended up fighting back to back until he could give her a chance to escape and warn the others. I'll take a romance, an adventure with some romance, even being stuck in a dungeon (probably some room for romance there as well...). Working Merklyn in would also be a thing. Maybe there's an attempt to get some more Spectral Knights?
Cryotek and Galadria, how I like to think of them:

If you're offering this fandom, you may enjoy this video from Derek the Bard (warning: language). The only thing I take issue with is the whole deal where he goes on about Galadria being afraid of water - it seems pretty obvious that if she hails from a tidal place, and those areas probably got pretty messed up when Prysmos left the Age of Science. Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-QL1PdhmfA
Dallas (1978 TV) - I love Dallas. I love the over-the-top 80s style scheming, and this used to be my grandmother's favorite Friday night show. I'm familiar with the whole run, but one idea I had is, how would things be if Pamela hadn't crashed into the big rig? Would they have had that baby? How would things have changed? Also, I love Sue Ellen and Pamela's relationship, trying to maintain it despite the issues between the men. I'd also love if you could work in Marilee Stone (the female cartel member) and Sly (JR's Girl Friday) - but focus on Pamela and Sue Ellen. I have seen all of the newer show as well (including the OMG what did you DO? finale). Feel free to play up the 80s.
Falcon Crest - A very, very close runner up to Dallas. I'm not as familiar, since it didn't run as long, but I do have the first 2-3 seasons on DVD and very vague memories of the end. Focus on Angela (don't forget to work in Chao Li as well) and Lance. Let me see her scheming and plotting, and trying to run everyone's lives as she sees best.
Also, if you could see your way to a story where Angela goes head to head with JR Ewing, either in the Tuscany Valley or the Lone Star State, I would love you forever! I think that was the first crossover I ever thought of. It can end in a draw, or with Angela winning. Crossing these last two prompts would be excellent!
