I forgot about this last night when I was doing my review, but I also found myself thinking about another aspect of how Cryoburn could affect fandom.

The fanfic could be EPIC. I know there's already a lot of epic fanfic, but this book leaves us in an excellent place. There's room for fic about the characters dealing with it (more than we got, thanks much) and the line of what Cordelia does NOW, and how Miles handles being Count Vorkosigan. For one thing - can Miles remain an Auditor and be in the Council of Counts? Does this change the dynamic of power in the Progressives? Will there be people who kept quiet out of fear for Aral's reaction that decide to get vocal against his heir? I can think of all kinds of Worst Things...

Also, I'd like to see Vorlynkin and the Satos come to Barrayar. That could provide some entertainment... and some sadness. I think we're supposed to read that Aral died while Miles was on Kibou-daini, trying to fix the problems. While he was getting Jin and Mina back their mother (and getting them a new father, judging from the signs in the book), Miles was losing his.

Then there's the big time gap between books, and what happens in that gap. Especially with Yuletide coming up...

It could be fun....
