So, I read it today. It's a pretty good read, although it sort of drags in the beginning. If you've been getting annoyed with LKH's writing lately, you might want to try check this one out. For one, it's not overwhelmed with sex or violence.
I think it could also be the last one. The ending's kind of ambiguous, but if she didn't write another one, it wouldn't be a huge issue for fans of the serious.
That said, into the spoilers:
There's really only 3 sex scenes in the whole book, and we're all spared too much imagery relating to how much Merry loves giving blow jobs. The one full blown sex scene is pretty hot.
The Taranis raping his niece storyline is still unresolved.
The reason I think the book could end here: CEL IS DEAD. Merry finally does for him, after it's revealed that he's the one who killed her father. Andais appears to be taking it well, although quite devastated at what her son did.
Frost gets resurrected.
Sholto and the sluagh get plenty of play.
The National Guard has wizards. I wonder what MOS they are. There's also an annoying error - non-commissioned officers are generally NOT addressed as officers. Even worse, there's a typo where he's actually called a lieutenant.
Plenty of stuff with the Goddess and Consort, and more of Merry making everything live again.
The opening of the book has a pretty good message on fairy tales.
