Yay! More language database work (data ENTRY) for the day. More scheduled for tomorrow.
After work, we dashed off to PT, where we proceeded to run last week's hilly course, and I proceeded to be slower than the men. My knee is filing protest. My only consolation is that he's pushing himself harder than us. I bless my fellow soldier who made a wrong turn and shaved time off.
After tortu... I mean, PT, I dashed off to drop off and pick up the film. I have all the pics scanned, but only the MiniCon ones posted here :
http://pics.livejournal.com/desert_vixen/gallery/0000739t
I also discovered that the red eye option does not fix Evil Kitty Glowing Eyes (that Freak You Out at 0230) on my photo editor. Any helpful suggestions?
The 3 Gallagher cats are represented, although the two pics of Pouncequick by herself did not turn out so well.
I also have a rant on fashion which is in an LJ cut, so the men do not have to bother with it (unless, of course, they want to - paging Scott - ) :
Clothes Shopping
I really hope this "designing for the very slender" trend goes away fast, or at least starts to include "designing for women with figures". Respectfully, I do not need ruffles, or lacy details, or clever designs, or such to draw attention to my chest. It does that all by its (not so little) self. Hips - I have them, so could we please start making all the pants with wide waistbands/details/etc ?
However, I finally did find a pair of tannish dress pants, so I can rest now.
Off to bed early...
I also have a new icon, and ditched two of the others. The icon, of course, is of my dark and lustrous mane, for the people who have inquired about the hair length on the main icon being realistic....

That made me laugh. I remember when using the photo editing software at my dad's house, he instructed me to NOT try to use the Red Eye fix on cat eyes - the results were BAD, he warned me!
Well, yeah, of course I tried it, out of sheer curiosity at that point.
He was right!
I'm right there with you on the fashion stuff. Of course, at my size, I'm not even in those stores. But yeah.

Date: 2005-03-21 08:33 pm (UTC)Amen!! I found a gift card for The Gap when cleaning, and I had the worst time shopping. All of the clothes, even the ones that were a size+ too big were still tight on my shoulders. On top of that, they all had strange embelishments. One shirt was empire waisted and flared. I looked pregnant. Anorexic people would look pregnant in that...

Date: 2005-03-22 01:23 am (UTC)As far as the fashion goes....I am a rare breed in that I hate shopping period (short of loving bookstores, Victoria's Secret, and Bath and Body Works). I am the complete opposite though--very boyish figure. They don't cater to us any better. I am thin but I am no waif by any stretch of the imagination. Stores like American Eagle and GAP can definitely bite me...
The fashion and beauty industries profit by making women feel inadequate. If women woke up and truly liked everything about myself those two industries as we know them would have to seriously rework themselves or crumble.

Date: 2005-03-22 02:33 am (UTC)*giggles* sock bun?! *giggles again* Myself and Danielle have agreed that if either of us were to do a sock bun, we'd have a dinner plate on our heads!
Though in all respect, my hair is only waist length :D
And I think everyone would be happier if they thrift-shopped more, but I'm weird that way!

Date: 2005-03-22 02:47 am (UTC)Thanks! The sock bun is a little out of reach. I just comb it out, put it in a ponytail below the headgear line, then split the ponytail in half. Braid each half, twist together, braid together at the very end to keep from untwisting, then form a bun around the base of the ponytail. Apply hairspray if/as needed and good to go. I just use the plain black elastics, and since my "bangs" are somewhere around my waist, the hair stays back from my face.

Date: 2005-03-22 02:39 pm (UTC)There is something deeply, DEEPLY wrong with a culture in which **
I mean, if I set aside my own preferences for the full-figured, and her disturbing (in this context, anyway) resemblance to my Irish-twin sister, even *I* can tell we're talking about an Adolescent Male Fantasy Figure, here. *grumble*
And those who dare try to "fix" the amusing wonderfulness embodied in the Evil Glowing Kitty Eyes OF DOOOOOM, you deserve your hideous fate. *giggle*

Date: 2005-03-23 03:10 am (UTC)It's a trick military women use (not sure who got the idea for starters) to do their hair. You take a (clean!) sock, cut out the toe, and roll it into a sort of donut thing. Then you pull the hair over and around it, and perfectly round bun ensues. However, it works best with mostly shoulder length hair.

Date: 2005-03-23 03:13 am (UTC)Thanks, Scott, (she says with a maidenly blush).
It's at least one male's fantasy figure.... :)
I'm quite happy with *it*. I'm just not happy with fashion.
And could we get a slight halt on all the Perky Pale Pale Pastels *please*? I'm not opposed to a nice dark pink on occasion, but all these pale blues and greens and yellows are so not on my color chart.

There's one thing worse than evil red eye...
Date: 2005-03-23 04:06 am (UTC)It's great for Christmas Eve... Lure Santa down the chimney and he runs right into my little psycho who is a ball of flying fluff and gnashing fangs.
She usually keeps the blood cleaned up after the carnage too.
Like rats on a size 2 bathing suit.
Date: 2005-03-23 04:15 am (UTC)Loved the pics... nicely done!
On the subject of clothes designers... somebody must've put a "Perfect Female Form" action figure in front of them, or else they forgot that real people exist and started designing clothes for lead pencils to fit in. My wife and I lean towards the big side (OK, I admit that I'm plumper than a Thanksgiving turkey...) and I hear the same complaints. Maybe if we boycott the stores and buy up tons of burlap bags?
Have a great day!

Date: 2005-03-23 08:49 am (UTC)Pastels have their place. There are quite a few pastels *I* happen to look good in, for instance. I'll even admit that the earth tones which I regularly malign also have their place (
But yes: Where Are The Jewel Tones?!?! We need more Bright Colors!!
