I doubt I'll change my views of women on ships, much less submarines, but this particular theater of war is proving that we can't do without those women willing to serve in combat units.
I'd be so much more sanquine about the integration, if I could be assured that the folks in charge were capable of acknowledging that (1) women are different from men (2) that affects everything--and not just logistics, but (3) If we need to have them (and we do) we're going to have to plan to adjust--and keep adjusting plans as the reality in the field throws up new and interesting (for Chinese values of "interesting" consequences. Never mind whose delicate sensibilities (right or left) are offended.
