The idol thing gets triggered by all our traditional statuary of saints and the BVM. There's a parish in east San Jose that is completely over the top with statues. The first time I was in a Baptist church, I was astounded by them having nothing to look at.
The "not real" accusation gets me mad, we've got at least one millennium's worth of prior experience on them.
