HP: OOTP (Comments may have SPOILERS!!)

 So, I went and saw the ten o'clock this morning.  Not crowded at all.

 Non-spoilery: I think it preserves the mood, if not all the events.  Not enough back story, but they've been writing themselves into that corner for awhile now, so not a big surprise.  Definitely worth seeing, and I'm glad the guys all got out of the shaggy stage.

 

 The big problem is not enough is Explained.  They don't tell you what Mrs. Figg is, they don't identify the one female witch (Amelia Bones) who speaks up in the hearing but then list her by name in the credit.  Tons of back story, like the Prophecy that gets all the trouble started, is just glossed over.

 Am I the only one who thinks Fudge is supposed to be a Chamberlain-esque character?

 Since when are both Patil sisters Gryffindors?

 Luna is excellent, although I got a little bit of a 'ship vibe from some of the movie.

 Kreacher was nicely done.  I would have liked to see more of the Black house and family tree (especially the part where they point out that Draco's mother is a Black cousin.

 Glad to see Bellatrix was able to stop by the Goth store after the breakout.

 Dumbledore's exit from his office - as Kinglsey Shacklebolt says, Dumbledore has style.

 Fred and George also have style, but I would have liked to see the swamp.

 McGonagall and Umbrage were good together, especially in the scene on the steps.

 I liked Snape, as usual. 

 Um, hi?  Order of the Phoenix, anyone?  Especially Tonks.

The big problem is not enough is Explained.

I think it worked as is. I'd avoided re-reading to see the movie fresh. While various stuff wasn't explained the surface stuff was sufficient to enjoy the movie. "Oh, Dumbledore planted an agent to keep an eye on him." "There's at least one good guy in that crowd." "It's a MacGuffin, plots need a MacGuffin."

The one black and white profile with the hat? The one they keep using in propaganda-esque ways? I KNOW that's inspired by something historical, and I can't find the right basis.

I can't decide if Fudge just can't admit he's wrong or if he's afraid to admit he's wrong.
