Not posting the whole article because I'm not that into college ball. This was too good though.

Making sense of the Maize
Among “Separation Saturday” winners, there is no bigger one than Michigan coach Lloyd Carr. Second place goes to anyone who has tickets for the Ohio State-Michigan game on Nov. 18. With his team’s showing Saturday at Notre Dame, Carr quieted critics and saved his job — at least until the huge road clash against the Buckeyes, who have an excellent chance of still being No. 1 by that time. Carr is 1-4 against Jim Tressel, his counterpart at Ohio State. Because Michigan finished 7-5 last year — its worst season in 21 years — and because the Buckeyes are rolling even with a bunch of new starters on defense, the perception is that Michigan is a program on the decline and Ohio State is one on the rise. Perceptions die hard. But the Notre Dame win gives the Wolverines’ renewed mojo. And if Carr’s team can run the table from here on out and knock off Ohio State, he’ll get an extension. If not, he might get fired.

Notre Dame is a rivalry. But Ohio State is a jihad.

Such are the vagaries of college football, and the whims of disgruntled alumni.

So true, so true.
