Crossworks 2020
Jun. 23rd, 2020 11:15 amHave fun, because I will love what you come up with....because I love love love love crossovers and can't get enough.
My general preferences are here.
So, first, let me tell you a little about what I love in each of the fandoms.
Fairy Tail: I love this fandom. The story is strong and swivels around on different characters, and there’s so many great moments. (And so much inherent shippiness!) I am current on what’s been released in the US so far for the anime and am slowly working through the manga. My favorite arcs are Grand Magic Games, S-Class, and Battle of Fairy Tail/Fantasia.
Dallas 1978: 1980s extravagance and excess. JR Ewing scheming, wheeling and dealing. The way Sue Ellen's alcoholism is real, both the ups and downs. The fashions! If you are familiar with the reboot, feel free to hint at it. I also love the "we'll fight all we want but you take us all on" dynamic. Would prefer focus on later seasons, unless you want to have some fun with Bobby Ewing's shower.
Dallas 2012: They did an awesome job of translating all the things that made the original Dallas great, and both main male leads are ridiculously hot. I wonder what would have happened if Larry Hagman hadn’t died, but the way they brought back original characters and mixed them in with new ones was excellent. I also loved the touches of “real world” (of course the Ewings have a box at Cowboy Stadium! Of course Jerry Jones knows JR!)
Falcon Crest: I am here all the way for Angela Channing. Dallas and Falcon Crest used to be my grandmother’s Friday night viewing, and Angela always intrigued me. I loved how she played feminine wiles and sharp business and was like a deadly snake. The California scenery was good too, but for me the show was always about Angela. Lance is entertaining, but no match for his grandmother.
Hart to Hart: These two have such chemistry, and I love it. I like the more serious undercover stuff (like related to Hart Industries) and how they just keep having murders happen around them. The 80s fashions are also fun! The first season episode set in Vail is one of the best.
Murder She Wrote: My mother watched this show so much, my brothers and I refer to Angela Lansbury as Grandma. I love Jessica and how she just stumbles into murders (or is a murder magnet). I like Cabot Cove stories but some of the travel ones (like Snow White, Blood Red) are also excellent. Seasons 2-5 are good.
Clue: I love this movie, especially Miss Scarlet - how she is brash, frank, sexy and unapologetic. Feel free to combine Clue with anything on this list. I really like the whole "strangers trapped together" deal.
Cherry Ames: I like the WW2 stories just as much as the Cherry Ames, Random Nursing Job titles. I like her determination, her late streak, and just her in general. My favorites are Army Nurse, Chief Nurse, and Boarding School Nurse.
Nancy Drew: I love Nancy in all her incarnations - originals, yellow spines, Nancy Drew files. I like when she's determined and maybe a little reckless in pursuit of mysteries. No Nancy/Ned, please - I don't ship it. I love The Mystery of Lilac Inn and the Bungalow Mystery.
Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys SuperMysteries: So this update of Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys (and bringing them together) really scratches my 1980s/1990s itch. I love how they’re always HAPPENING to run into each other and OOPS our mysteries are connected. Frank Hardy was probably my first fictional boyfriend (so much better than Ned) and the UST, while varying from book to book, is great – but aside from the UST I love how well Nancy and Frank work together. My faves are The Last Resort, Dangerous Games, Exhibition of Evil. And Joe! I love how funny and brash he can be, like taking on the bad guy with a water pistol.
Perry Mason: Perry/Della. Perry relying on Della's feminine intuition. Clients who just can't tell the truth even when it would help, and who just can't resist hiding that one thing. Perry making people think he's done in. Paul doing the last minute legwork. I have the whole show, but definitely want the show, not the movies.
Captain America movies: I really love the first one, but I also love watching Steve adapt to his new reality. And the whole scene in Winter Soldier where Zola is all "accidents happen"... Also, there's totally UST between Cap and Black Widow.
Hunger Games (books): I enjoyed the first 2 movies as much as the 2 books - a little shaky on the Mockingjay stuff. I enjoyed getting more in Katniss’ head and I loved the songs in the books.
Poirot: I love the books. I love how Poirot is nosy and interested in how people’s brains work, in how people reveal themselves by what they say and don’t say. I love Hastings. I am a fan of the show, and David Suchet is Poirot to the life.
Wonder Woman (Jenkins movies): This movie was like everything I needed/wanted as a teenager. I love how Diana isn’t trying to be sexy – she just is. I loved how her relationship went with Steve, except for the sad end. I loved her earnestness, and I wonder what we see in the next movie.
Scooby-Doo: I love the gang. I love secret passages and trap doors and masks – and the fact that there’s always someone under the mask. I love their sense of friendship. I love Daphne and Velma.
