I forgot the book review
Jul. 1st, 2005 12:37 amI finished off the Lucrezia Borgia biography (called Lucrezia Borgia, of all things) by Sarah Bradford. I was favorably impressed by it. It focused more on Lucrezia's life, especially as the Duchess of Ferrara, and less on the Borgia men. It's a definite keeper for my "women of history" shelf that is slowly building. The artwork in the book is nice, and there's lots of excerpting from letters, etc. There's also a good focus on the relationships between women in Lucrezia's life that makes the book not-boring.
I'm reading and will finish, The Politics of Parenthood. I picked it up for $1.99 at Hastings, so it was worth the go-round. Not really much new about the depressing state of child care and the pressures that women are faced with. It provides some historical background, but that's about the size of it. It's also from 1994, so a bit out of date. Not sure if I'll keep it or not.
I'll be doing some reading while I wait in between planes, so I'm taking up some reinforcements. We'll be basking in a Barnes and Noble, but I want to try and knock out some of the books I have here. I know the pile will never get smaller unless I stop buying them but... yeah, right. That's going to happen.
I also need to rearrange the book collection, and put some of the "read" category under the bed in their tupperware box. Oh yeah, and I need to pack, and get to bed here eventually. Leaving here about 0845, and I would like to get some sleep.
