desertvixen: (take me)
Today was actually pretty fun, work wise. I almost have my platoon sergeant's cubicle "in order". (People are starting to ask if they can borrow the corporal.) My big achievement on that front was about fifteen minutes spent with the white-board cleaning solution and paper towels, getting 99% of the ick leftover from the last person, who used electrical tape to mark off the boundaries. They haven't given him a *magnetic* whiteboard yet, so we can't be cool like the other sergeants. However, the board is now neatly written, with all thirty-odd of us represented.

One of the nice things about working in the orderly room is that if I don't have work that he wants me to do, and I don't have anything that I can drum up in the way of work, I can... do my homework! So I do a lot of longhand at work and type at night. That is a great perk, IMO.

There was also the entertainment of sitting on a mock board and assisting fellow NCOs in screwing with people's heads. Not to mention busting someone for her out-of-regs nails.

Being that it's Good Friday tomorrow, I will BE the platoon sergeant for the day... as SFC G's daycare center will be closed. Early release is at the commander's discretion for us, so we're all sort of keeping our fingers crossed. I have a meeting to go to at noon, but if we could skip after that... that would be great.

The task of the evening was everyone's favorite : uniform maintenance. Since recieving my award, I had to buy new award racks, so tonight was twenty minutes of putting the ribbons and appurtences on the racks without breaking anything. (Note to Raeyn : I hate your Outstanding Air Force Unit Award and its silly little V. My Vs keep breaking one of the little legs.)

Laundry was also involved. Yay.

The points comp went as planned, and so as of May 1, I will have 613 points. The college classes are progressing nicely, and after I get the transcript in April, I'll be able to max out the civilian education category. Next week is the final week! The bad news, of course, is that as a partial result of the current deployment situation, TA (tuition assistance) is suffering in some areas. We're one of them. I may be looking into tapping my GI bill sooner rather than later.

Nothing to rant about today.
