A Meeting at Corvallis

I'm up to page 69, and this one seems to be building up slowly - he's still been giving us the look at where everyone is since we last left them. There's a gap of six months or so (the last book ended in summer and it's Yule-time when it begins) between the two books.

[livejournal.com profile] hornedhopper, you can relax about the character you were worried about.

Funny moments so far include Mike Havel wondering if since they have to keep the boiling oil hot for defense at the Bearkiller citadel, why don't they try doing French fries or onion rings in it? There's also an entertaining REM moment (guessing which song shouldn't be too hard), at least one mild Python reference (although not as funny as the one from Island in the Sea of Time), and someone's been borrowing tactics from the Ewoks.

Thanks, DV!!! I'm so glad to hear that we weren't going to have Gratuitous Heartstrings Pulling (GHP) in the series.

Ewoks? Oh, no. You mean they're going to wear funny clothes and walk trapezes? (g)

Well, there's still some HP, but I wouldn't say yet that it's gratuitous.

Ewoks? Oh, no.

The old fashioned "trip rope" idea, but they are fighting in a forest. Astrid (the crazy Tolkein fan one, you'll recall) comments about the "furry halflings fighting the Evil Emperor".

They also swing a big-ass tree down on their enemies.

Thanks for the info! I'm looking forward to it :)
