OOC is blasphemy, canon is everything.

Once you fall in love with a movie, book or TV series, you are loyal like an old dog. You take fanfiction quite serious and use it as a substitute after the canon ran out.

 I wouldn't say my major canon "ran out", and I do like to play the what-if game, but a) if someone's dead, they stay dead (or you just write fic before they died) and b) OOC doesn't entertain me.
